Fey Warforged with completely inconspicuous squirrel friend

Fey Warforged (Feyforged)

Racial stats and optional lore for an eldritch revamp of the Warforged race.

  • +2 Constitution, -2 Charisma. Feyforged are durable, but they seem strange to mortals, who find Feyforged strange in turn.
  • Construct (Living Construct) Feyforged do not need to eat, sleep, or breathe. They can use consumable magic effects or items (hero’s feast, potions, etc), and Feyforged arcane spellcasters must rest for 8 hours before preparing spells/renewing spell slots.
  • - Feyforged have Constitution scores, from which they derive hit points normally.
  • - Subject to ability damage, ability drain, critical hits, death effects, mind-affecting spells and abilities, necromancy effects, nonlethal damage, and stunning.
  • - Immune to disease, energy drain, exhaustion, fatigue, nausea, paralysis, poison, and the sickened condition.
  • - Feyforged do not naturally heal lethal damage.
  • - Feyforged can be affected by spells and abilities that target living creatures as well as spells and abilities that target constructs (IE cure/inflict light wounds and repair/cause light damage both function upon Feyforged, as do hold monster and disable construct). Spells of the healing subschool and supernatural abilities that heal damage are only half as effective upon Feyforged.
  • - The unusual physical construction of Feyforged makes them vulnerable to certain spells and effects that normally don’t affect living creatures. A Feyforged takes damage from heat metal and chill metal as if wearing metal armor. Likewise, a Feyforged is affected by repel metal or stone as if wearing metal armor. A Feyforged is repelled by repel wood. The faerie metal in the body of a Feyforged makes them vulnerable to rusting grasp. They take 2d6 points of damage from the spell (Reflex half; save DC 14 + caster’s ability modifier). They take the same damage from a rust monster’s touch (Reflex DC 17 half). Spells such as stone to flesh, stone shape, warp wood, and wood shape affect objects only, and thus cannot be used on the stone and wood parts of a Feyforged.
  • - When reduced to 0 hit points, living constructs are disabled (like living creatures) and only able to take one move or standard action each round, but they do not risk additional damage from strenuous activity. While at negative hit points, living constructs are inert: helpless and unconscious, but they do not lose additional hit points unless something deals damage to them (like a living creature that is at negative hit points, but stable).
  • - Living constructs can be raised or resurrected.
  • Base Land Speed of 30 ft.
  • Construction: Feyforged were designed as warriors and servitors. Each Feyforged has one of the following traits. These traits cannot be changed once chosen. Armor plating traits can be enchanted like any other armor, though the feyforged must be present for the entire enchanting process. Effects that let a character ignore arcane spell failure chances for armor let Feyforged ignore spell failure chances from their plating. Armor traits prevent Feyforged from wearing armor or magic robes. The armor bonus is not natural armor.
  • - Composite Plating: +2 armor bonuss. 5% arcane spell failure chance (affected by light armor spell failure reduction).
  • - Darkwood Body: +3 armor bonus, counts as wearing light armor, and grants DR 2/slashing, but limits maximum Dexterity bonus to AC to +4, and imposes a -3 armor check penalty and 20% arcane spell failure chance.
  • - Mithral Plating: +5 armor bonus, counts as light armor, limits maximum Dexterity bonus to AC to +5, and imposes a -2 armor check penalty and 15%arcane spell failure chance.
  • - Adamantine Plating: +8 armor bonus, DR 2/adamantine, counts as wearing heavy armor. Base Land Speed reduced to 20 ft, maximum Dexterity bonus to AC +1, -5 armor check penalty, and 35% arcane spell failure chance.
  • Unarmored Body: neither armor bonus nor arcane spell failure chance, but can wear armor and magic robes.
  • Unlike mortal-made Warforged, Feyforged do not have the Light Fortification trait.
  • Fey Magic (Sp): Feyforged can use Prestidigitation and Unseen Servant at will as spell-like abilities. Feyforged with a Wisdom score of at least 11 can once per day use either Dancing Lights, Ghost Sound, or Detect Magic as a spell-like ability. They may choose which to cast each time they do so. Caster level equals their hit dice.
  • Feyforged speak Sylvan, and ones sent into mortal realms are usually taught Common before their missions. Feyforged with high Intelligence scores can choose bonus languages from whatever the fey might have taught them, which might well be almost anything.

Lore for the lore inclined!

The mortal perception of the fey is a caricature, an odd blend of idealized sylvan gloss and sparkle, with prancing unicorns and flitting pixies, crossed with the twisted dark of bedtime stories of wart-nosed hags, carnivorous trees, and sidhe riders on the wild hunt chasing down mortals for sport. While these are all based upon truth, they don’t accurately reflect the depth of the fey. There is an idealised picture of “the faerie courts” but few people who aren’t scholars think about the inexorable logic that where there are courts and nobles, there will be intrigue. Where there are rulers, there must be the ruled, where there are princes and monarchs, there are kingdoms. And where there are multiple kingdoms, there will be tensions.

And among creatures so fickle as the fey, tensions can quickly escalate into war.

And in war, there must be footsoldiers.

The current theory is that fey artificers stole the idea and basic designs from the mortal artificers responsible for creating Warforged. However, given the lifespans of the fey, it’s entirely possible to be the other way around, or that both got the designs from some other source. What is known is that the Feyforged have been spotted more often in recent years. Some are on mysterious missions for their fey masters. Some are exploring. Some don’t know why they’re here, or so they say.

A faerie introduces himself. Then, holding out a hand, asks, “And your name, please?”

And, like a fool, you give it to him.

One of my players went into an Elf’s herb shop and acquired a strange leaf. When they asked the price, the Elf simply smiled and walked away. But our Lawful cleric, unable to consider stealing, left a stack of gold coins on the counter with a note “From Malaphor”. I told them that as they left the shop and looked back into the gloom, the gold remained, but the note was gone. That was all the payment the Elf needed…

NOOOOO!!! Don’t give your name to the fae! You give them the power!

So I have been Officially™ told to get my stuff out of my parent’s house and find a new place to live. All because I had the audacity to want my family to not be overtly homophobic. My dad has apparently been barely tolerating my gayness, and this was the last straw.

(my mum’s being nice but trying to “keep the peace” by not standing up to my dad)

Luckily, a friend has a spare room, and I’ve been approved to be added to their lease. All I need is to hire a truck or removalists so we can move my stuff, and to pay bond. After that, my normal wages should cover my ongoing expenses, as I’ve gotten extra shifts at work.

If you wanna and are able to help, here’s a link to my PayPal page

My dad’s been sending voicemails where he’s fucking screaming at me because I haven’t been able to move all my stuff yet :/ I’m not picking up bc honestly he scares me. If people could reblog again, that would be awesome, because the donations have died down.

Thanks to everyone who has already helped. You’re helping me so much and I wish I could repay you.

Thank you so much to the people who have donated so far. With your donations + help from my friends, I was able to pay my bond. Now I just need to move my stuff before my dad throws it all out or something.

Hey guys. So I took the advice some of you gave me and got a cop to escort me to the house while I packed some of my stuff. Luckily, he was the dad of a girl I went to high school with, so I just messaged her through FB and they were super lovely about it and it really made dad leave me alone. No shouting, it was blissful.

So I took most of my stuff, and now I just need about $250-300 to hire someone to move my bed, desk, and dresser to my new place (I was gonna leave the dresser but the place I’m staying at doesn’t have a wardrobe, lol).

So any more donations will go towards hiring someone to move my stuff and towards any stuff I might need now that I’m “independent”. Idk. I didn’t have time to plan this.

Pls keep reblogging, and once again thank you!
