Adeptus custodes

I dont usually illustrate humans. But regarding warhammer 40k’s controversy with female custodes  Only a fool would not appreciate the wonderful variety in humanity and the rest of the universe.

My time has come. My sole reason to buy exactly one share of GW’s stock has presented itself.

IT WAS I ALL ALONG. I WAS THE INVESTOR PUTTING FEEMALES INTO YOUR WAR DOLLIES!

(but also no this guy is financially illiterate as fuck, Blackrock owns abut 6% of GW’s stock which in some ways is funny because that is less then they usually own of Everything)

And the stock is doing fine btw, it has gone up today.

I own a partial share in GW too.

Everybody drawing custodes ladies with elaborate long feminine hairstyles and crazy intense makeup is insane. Have you seen the current custodes heads? They have the most dyke looking fucked up buzzcuts on earth broken up by 6 separate cybernetic skull ports, and the ladies would be no different. The only ones who even know what eyeliner is are in the Emissaries Imperatus shield host and would only wear it as an obscure means of communicating rank or authority in niche diplomatic interactions.

Amazon, trying to figure out what to recommend me.

Well, they are getting better!

I love that Bezo's bots think "that's the kind of person who's 100% into dysfunctional families! Like absolutely! They need ALL the family issues of all kind!"

something something fabius bile going on a 50-page tangent about a lord inquisitor charging the emperor with heresy as an anti-religion parable. meanwhile lucius is charged with murdering his horrible degenerate deadbeat father as he high-key loses his shit over his SO. i think the algorithm is onto something.

fuck i need to reread the brothers karamazov

I genuinely think it's a shame that Szarekh and Sanginius never got married.

Imagine the crown prince of the massively xenophobic and genocidal Imperium eloping with a swole robot xeno. The drama! The scandal!

Imagine the sheer psychic damage this would inflict on Big Daddy E. Imagine the migraine Malcador would get.

Malcador: This is a reckless decision that harms our entire plan and sows dissension amongst the soldiery. I am deeply stressed by all of this and am immeasurably bewildered.

Malcador: I will, of course, be officiating the ceremony.

Quick little thoughts on the current discourse:

Listen, if you're saying the brief inclusion of female custodes to a side-panel of a codex is a game company purposely alienating the "dedicated fans" or whatever, I don't think you're all that dedicated. What impact does female custodes have on the wider setting? None. What impact does it have on the custodes as a faction? Zero. It probably won't even change what miniatures GW is pumping out. So, an incredibly small detail like that changed is... bad? For some reason?

I've been into warhammer since 2010, man, and I've been through so much "this decision will be what ends 40k" talks. You remember when people hated Dan Abnett's guts for introducing the Perpetual storyline into the Horus Heresy? Or when people were screeching in disgust because pre-Great Crusade Fulgrim had wives? Or gosh, I remember when Necrons first got their major update and people were saying it completely ruined the lore, and selling their armies on Ebay out of spite.

If you're this mad about there being some big golden she/hers out there, such a small, small thing, then maybe y'all didn't really like Warhammer all that much to begin with? I dunno about you, but I will continue playing my fun tabletop games, and reading my good tie-in fiction, without getting mad at nothing. GW does best when it ignores its fans, and I sure as hell hope its ignoring you right now, silly billy.

To be fair, Fulgrim had marriages. Wives were never specified and I bet that was deliberate.

You know, that Mythbusters post legitimately changed my life. Before seeing it, I had exponentially more guilt and stress about not being able to sleep, which of course, further exacerbated my inability to sleep.

Now, every time I wake up about three am, knowing I have to get up at 6.45, instead of stressing and panicking about how my day is going to be sleep deprived and miserable, I just tell myself 'Time to activate Mythbusters Protocol' and lie there with my eyes closed safe in the knowledge that I am measurably reducing later feelings of exhaustion.

And when this happens, about 70% of the time the reduction of guilt and stress means I actually do fall back asleep, so all in all instead of getting only three or four hours sleep, I get five to six and a half.

Which y'know, major improvement in health and energy.

found a clearer image:

You fucking losers celebrating as if this isn't a lore-breaking decision that's going to alienate people who've been part of the hobby for longer than you've been alive, even further.

This is a terrible decision, and you are fools for celebrating.

Every day the subversion grows ever more prevalent...

the people demanding changes like this aren't buying kits or books.

this is nothing more than gentrification out of spite. they won't stop until everything is as shallow and safe as possible. 40k was one of the last remaining hobbies not completely flooded by an influx of tourists and professional moralists, and that infuriated them

Alright, I gotta address this. This goes out to you and every other “veteran” of the hobby who claims magic knowledge of the setting being suddenly twisted out of shape.

Do you know why female space marines were canned? Because they fucked up the head sculpts. Do you know why there were no female high elf infantry in WFB, despite the high elves having nearly no gender roles in their society? Because it was easier to make one kind of head sculpt. Do you know why female guard minis, despite female guard being a thing, are only recent? Making new sculpts.

Do you know why female Custodes have only been soft confirmed until now? It’s not the lore, no. Custodes’ creation processes are individualised and use gene-alchemy developed by the Emperor personally. This has been well established since they got rid of the old, naked Custodes lore way back. Sex has never come into it. At all. They aren’t like space marines. They are deliberately different. So, why is it? Surely a big bedrock of Warhammer past and present like you and your soggy friends would know that ADB and plenty of other writers inside GW have considered female Custodes a canon and obvious thing for a long time. I’m sure you’re also aware that the reason they didn’t get to start writing about them is because GW had (oh, look at that) printed male-only sculpts ahead of time and didn’t want to tackle the at the time expenses of making more/recalling. It has never, ever, had anything to do with the lore that you hold up in your head. Because GW is, at the end of the day, a fucking miniature company first and foremost.

They have changed nothing. They have recontextualised nothing. You would know this if you actually knew anything about the hobby you claimed to enjoy, or the company you bitched about, and weren’t just, in the words of you and your infantile mates, a tourist.
