Hello! I need medication for life to prevent my lungs from collapsing, this implies permanent treatment with steroids, oxygen therapy, control of oxygen in the blood and antibiotics to prevent the development of bacteria in the lungs.

I'm afraid I have to insist on this because it may be the only way to get my treatment.

I need medication for life to keep my lungs from collapsing, this costs around $700 per month.

Things are really tough on me,I can’t afford. Please donate🖤

djmachale on instagram: Stay tuned...

hey monty how do you know it’s not about pendragon

well a few days ago i was doing my weekly task of google searching "dj machale" and then looking at the most recent results (this is the best way for me to find news about him and his books because it's not like he posts about it himself all that often)

and well i found the amazon listing for his new book many many days before he announced it. and for some reason it's just available to purchase? right now? so i have had the book for like 3 days now just wondering if dj was even going to say anything 😭

i sometimes see people suggest pendragon could be adapted into a video game (as opposed to a movie or tv series), and in fact there was a video game in development a while ago but the plans ended up falling through, but honestly i struggle to see how it could work. do any of you think pendragon could work well as a video game, and if so what would it be like? i'd love to discuss this because i honestly have no idea!

Honestly I could see the premise of the series working well for a longer form rpg with a story that spans several worlds/levels. Think something like Ratchet and Clank meets Elder Scrolls- story driven, less fighting/action focused (but still with fights and action sequences of course), and the type of game where your actions and choices have consequences and change the course of the story.

Thing is, Bobby's decisions are so Bobby that putting a standard rpg video game player in his place and expecting them to make the same decisions just... won't work. So I can't see trying to adapt the story as is working out, without feeling like it's just railroading your story choices OR dragging you along on a series of mini games connected by cutscenes

The above is the exact reason I had so much trouble adapting the premise to a tabletop campaign- I couldn't fully divorce what I knew of the series through the lens of Bobby's actions, from the endless potential of someone else's actions

So yeah, an interesting idea! But personally I think the only way a game adaptation could work is if they keep the idea of the series (chosen one leads the travelers against Saint Dane across multiple worlds) but give it a massive branching path to let players choose their own destiny. So, too much for anything I see happening anytime soon

I think it'd work better as a sequel game than a direct adaptation. You get a customizable character that's recruited into the Travelers bc Dane is back and they need more help to fight him, and you get to go to the different territories in an open world setting of stopping Dane but also helping the locals with whatever issues they have and interacting with the Traveler from that territory.

You can get certain bonuses for doing certain missions (like key things unlock more Traveler abilities to use) but you can go where you want and pick what order to complete quests. Maybe some more abilities that weren't utilized much in the books (imagine a puzzle where you have to turn into smoke to get through parts of a dungeon, or shape shifting into someone in Ravinia to spy on Dane)

wow, a lot of really cool ideas! this is exactly what i wanted so thanks for the long answers.

i also had the thought that it would be difficult to play as bobby because a lot of people wouldn't make the same choices as him. so i'm really left to wonder what dj and whatever company he was working with had in mind for their now-abandoned game.

i think any game that would allow the player to explore the other territories would be really fun since that's what a lot of people really love about the series, the worldbuilding. it'd be hard to make it work in the story, so maybe a sequel game would be the best way to go. i'd definitely play it if it existed!

My thoughts: you can pick your Traveler at the beginning.

So you sort of see their stat block and you can decide from there. Here's an example with Spader:

Name: Vo Spader

Territory: Cloral

Strengths: Optimistic, always up for adventure

Weaknesses: quick-tempered

Strength: 8/10

Intelligence: 7/10

Fighting skill: 6/10

Charisma: 9/10

Special ability: Swimming speed increases by 50%

And Aja:

Name: Aja Killian

Territory: Veelox

Strengths: extremely intelligent, technology-savvy

Weaknesses: pride and believes she is better than everyone

Strength: 3/10

Intelligence: 10/10

Fighting skill: 2/10

Charisma: 6/10

Special ability: Time bonus added to puzzles

So if you're looking to play a more violent route, you might choose Kasha or Loor, where if you want things to be more peaceful, you could choose Elli or Gunny.

There would also be interesting opportunities to expand on the territory loor (lore) here. If you played as Siry or Elli, for example, you would probably experience more of the life on their territories, so expansion of lore would be necessary.

Alternatively, you could play as Saint Dane. Oooooooooh.

Another game mechanic that would be cool is leveling up your character's stats by doing certain things, like if you're unsure about First Earth things, you could flume to Third Earth to find things out just like Bobby did in The Never War. You could also use Third Earth to gain knowledge of certain aspects of things like foraging for food. Or go to Cloral to get better at swimming, go to Zadaa to get better at fighting, go to Veelox to level up your understanding of technology, etc.

I would also implement some system of limiting flume use, though, so players aren't abusing it.

As for the actual storyline, if any of you have played Genshin Impact that's the general thread I'm thinking of. There is a main story that the game guides you through, but you also can find little side quests to level up your character.

Another thought: Uncle Press walks you through the game tutorial, but he's super vague about everything except for the actual controls. Haha.

And imagine the home screen: the subway flume with a glowing star. The start button is the Traveler ring.

Anyway I'm done.

WOW! i'm really interested in these ideas!! especially the stats for each character and being able to learn more about each world... that sounds like sooo much fun!! i'm starting to understand the vision for this game which is great but also it makes me more upset that we never got the game that was in development 😭

@pendragonthegreat if I could code I would start working on it right now lmao, but I can't frickin code

And I love your username too :P
