Facing up against the collectors was something very serious to think about. And Sephiroth had done whatever studying that it was that he could do with them, and indoctrination. If he’d gone on about not knowing, then he might as well have gone blind folded or willfully have stepped into a landmine.
Perhaps this was a situational manner of the fact depending on how one might think about it, but he couldn’t help but wondering as far as his mind would allow. So he had to ask “If it could happen to them, then who is to say that none of this mind control couldn’t sneak in aboard Normandy and it happens to one of us when we least expect it? What would be our preferred precautions to take?”
The council probably wouldn’t be as easily swayed and he knew they didn’t always believe Shepard’s warnings when she addressed them. Was it not something that they shouldn’t completely leave a task such as, let’s say, a suicide mission, left up to them?
“Exactly how was it that you lost your Spectre status? Was it because you were believed to be dead? It couldn’t have possibly been because you’d done something that’d count as dishonorable. No one would believe that. Well, you did in fact as they say, ’ rise up from the grave,’ but that situation couldn’t have been predicted. Good thing is your title was reinstated.” He was right to share that same in mind with Avery. Either the Council informed and aided them on how they were to counter, or they didn’t bother helping them at all. Hopefully the preparations, the defenses, armor and weaponry and the Normandy will have been prepared before and by the time they were due to travel on the way of their mission to the collector’s base. They didn’t know exactly everything that all awaited them once they arrived. And the info that he knew now, Sephiroth knew that his knowledge could only extend him so far.
Avery listened to the man's question carefully before nodding, "That's a good question, actually. Truly, there are theories that indoctrination is cause by... something - for example, Saren was aboard a reaper when he was indoctrinated. So perhaps being close proximity to their technology would cause it. Mordin is studying this, and as much as I don't trust Cerberus, they seem to be doing intense checks on those who come aboard to ensure there is nothing amiss."
That wasn't necessarily the answer she wanted to give, but it was honest. There wasn't much known about indoctrination other than reapers were in charge of it, and the collectors are involved somehow. The commander hoped Mordin could come up with something, any sort of answer that could give them something to work with.
"Yes, my Spectre status was removed when I died... and uh, I was actually dead. Miranda Lawson and her team with Cerberus brought me back with project Lazarus. Im not sure how, it has something to do with my new cybernetics. But, I am still the same me that I was before this. However, if you want to know more about that project you will have to speak with her."
"Though, I guess you could say that's how serious Cerberus believes the threat of the collectors to be - I was lost in space, I don't know how they found me - my body - but they did, I woke up and was immediately put to work." She added.

“Mm-hmm. Yes, my apartment is my home.” Genesis confirms Avery’s statement with a light nod, offering a faint smile.
The medics had finished checking her over and had determined that she wasn’t suffering from any major trauma from her fall. Clearing her to go, one of them explained for her to come back if she had any major issues.
The Commander kept a note of this too, waiting for them to finish before he began to escort Avery back outside.
“New clothes? That I can do. Right, let’s get to my apartment first though. There’s a train station not far from here, and we’ll get to Sector 8 in no time.” Realising that she’d have no idea what he was talking about, he was glad that he had his tablet with him for once.
Unlocking the device and tapping on the screen, he pulled up a map of Midgar. There was a glowing blue dot on the map that marked their current location. Showing her the screen, he pointed out the sectors.
“This isn’t the kind of map you’re used to, but here is a map of Midgar. That dot shows where we are, in Sector 5. Now…” He made a scissoring motion on the screen to zoom the map in. “This path here will take us towards the train station.” Pointing out the path. “From there, we ride the train to Sector 8…” He zoomed the map out and scrolled to the right sector. On the map it looked like it was far. “… here. Did you get all that?”
Avery was suddenly very happy that she was a quick learner. Genesis' explanation and demo of this new type of map was helpful. She was a little bit in awe of it actually.
"That seems so much more useful than what I have," She said, "Why is everything in sectors though? Why is it not just districts or city limits?"
Her brow furrowed slightly for a moment, "But this 'train' we will ride, how does it get that far? Is it like a cart?"
Maybe now is not the best time to admit that even at home, she usually just walks to other places, sometimes she will ride the occasional horse, but since she had to walk during the Blight, she was not used to riding much anymore.

Of course Anderson tried. He was the best of the Alliance. A true soldier. A true hero. He’d been a guiding hand when it had come to Shepard. Hackett had been a good leader also, but that red tape could only give them so much access before someone would come asking questions. He could try and talk to Hackett, see if he could help, pull a few strings, but the fact was that the Alliance wanted little to do with him right now. Even if Hackett was his biological father, the both of them knew what the Alliance could be like, or the bureaucratic side of things.
“Udina?” he asked, his expression turning to a frown. That wouldn’t surprise him. Udina was an ass, a human supremacist. But she had to be careful in what she said. Things like that may have Avery locked in a cell. Udina was a powerful man. They’d better have every damn scrap of evidence against him before they even thought of going after him.
“If you think he’s got anything to do with this, we’d better have solid proof. But I’ll get EDI on it. Better we keep this quiet from the Illusive Man, though. I wouldn’t want him trying to con you.” Sure, he owed him his life, but that didn’t mean he had to trust him or have any loyalty to him. Shepard was an Alliance soldier through and through, you couldn’t just take that away from him.
“Any leads? Maybe a place where your brother may have found safety in hiding?”
Avery thought for a moment, "Since EDI is Cerberus... do you think she'd keep it quiet from the Illusive man?" She was too sure how she felt about this AI just yet, however she would trust Shepard if he thought that EDI could be trusted.
"I think I know of a few places, I will send the coordinates to your omni-tool." She said opening hers to quickly send over.
Her head tilted slightly, "But I don't think I've asked you, how are you doing? All this had to be a shock to you too, waking up and everything changing and all. Are you alright?"
Hi everyone, I've not forgotten about threads or interactions here. Real life has just been very, very busy and had some family events happen. Hopefully I will be more active in the near future.

The Commander simply observed quietly while the medic checked Avery over, and it was only when the medic left to run the tests that she caught his attention again. He was a little perturbed when she handed him the map, but he carefully unfurled it and looked it over.
“Mmm… I see.” He studied the map with some scrutiny, puffing out a breath as he looked over it. None of the landmarks looked familiar, and the place names weren’t familiar either. “This does lend some credence to your story…”
It was tangible evidence. It meant that Avery hadn’t been lying about another world out there. But then… how was he to get her back home? Would he have to find another of those Eluvian things she’d mentioned?
“Well, once the medics are sure that you’ve not taken any serious head injuries… I’ll take you back to my apartment so you can rest. I can imagine that finding yourself in such a strange location has taken a lot out of you.”
A small breath of relief came from Avery when he said that he finally believed her... Even if she gathered it wasn't fully believed.
"Thank you, I appreciate being checked out," She said, "What is... an apartment? Is that like a home?" "Could we also get me some... clothes that are appropriate for this place? It seems I'm either over or under dressed and I can't tell which." She asks with a tilt of her head gesturing to her clothes.
