She wiped some tears away, letting out a soft laugh when he switched into his caretaker mode. “I’m okay now,” she said with a soft smile. “As for hunger, I am starving. I haven’t eaten in a bit.”
“Then I’ll get you something to eat. Sometime light, maybe? Like soup?” He was already going through what he had on hand and a nice chicken and rice soup would be easy. If she hadn’t eaten for a while, he didn’t want to give her something greasy or heavy.
She relaxed completely once he pulled her into his arms. She leaned her head against his shoulder and took a deep breath, closing her eyes at the long forgotten smell of him. “I know. I know you did. But I’m here. I came back. Just for you,” she whispered softly, tears beginning to fall as she held him tightly.
She seemed...older somehow but he wasn’t worried about that right now. All that was important was that she was here and she was safe (at least for the moment, he knew how she was). “Are you hungry? Are you okay?” Edwin asked, almost immediately shifting into his “caretaker mode” as Howard sometimes called it. He wanted to look after her, to be sure that she was fine.
Stacey listened to him, smiling and chuckling at his explanation. “I’m not saying I’m mad about this, but I wish I had known about your plan first. I’m going to need to buy some land up north. I can maybe build a farm to house some of them. Also the flamingo needs a name. How about Houdini?”
“I was intending to at least make you aware of what was in the works but I captured the creature not far from here and though the shed would work for the moment. I think Houdini is more than appropriate for the number of times I have had to chase this beast.” Edwin sounded more than a tad disgruntled about this, but it was what it was.
“Ah. Yes. Our visitor. Mr. Stark has been acquiring many animals for his properties but rarely is he home to enjoy them or properly look after them. This flamingo in particular is an escape artist and I thought he might prefer a wider area to roam around in. That, and you expressed to me that you liked flamingos. Hence, your own flamingo.”

Ok, that is flipping hilarious. Howard tries to buy all sorts of animals and somehow Stacey is the one living out on a farm with a zoos worth of animals that somehow went ‘missing’ from Howard’s.

Stacey watched as Eddie tried to teach Howie how to build a castle out of legos, smiling at the sight before turning to Ed. “Do you ever wonder what we did to deserve two cute little boys?”
“All the time.” Ed said, unable to keep a fond smile from his face. Their sons got along well, for which he was rather grateful. Eddie was a good big brother to Howie and the two of them often banded together, especially when one of them was in trouble.
