The thing about Taylor.

She has such a loyal fanbase, we love her unconditionally and she could have put out an average record that she threw together in a few months and we would still buy it and we would still go to the shows and we would still scream every time we saw her on a red carpet or heard her on the radio. But she didn’t do that. She put out an UNBELIEVABLE album, universally praised by fans and critics and people who wouldn’t give her the time of day before this era. She spent two years working on these songs and made this beautiful, touching story that was just as much about our lives as it was about hers. She added bonus tracks that are some of the best and freshest songs she’s ever released. She included voice memos documenting her writing process because she knew how much we would love them. The connotations previously associated with “Taylor Swift” changed dramatically and the mainstream media finally started giving her the recognition she deserves as a songwriter, a musician, a performer, an artist, a leader, a role model, and a best friend. And she still did all the promotional events that she would have done for any other albums - the talk show circuit, public appearances, awards show performances. Not only did she continue working like crazy to promote her album, but she kept her feet on the ground (as she always has) and did more than ever to show us how much we mean to her. Whether it’s tracking fans down at awards shows, inviting them into her HOME to hear the album early, spending hours finding the perfect gifts for them and sending them huge packages filled with heartfelt, individualized gifts that they are going to treasure for the rest of their lives, or staying up late with us on tumblr, joking around with us and learning who we are and giving incredibly inspiring pep talks to those going through a hard time. All while promoting her album and planning a MASSIVE world tour.

She never had to do any of this. She could live the life that most celebrities do and keep her personal life as private as possible. And we would still buy the albums, we would still go to the shows, we would still spend hours on social media praising her. But she does. She proves on a daily basis that she cares about every single one of us on an individual level.

If that’s not the definition of hard work, passion, love, trust, and dedication, I don’t know what is. She is truly one-of-a-kind; she is the reason why so many of us get through every day and all of our best and worst moments, and she will never, ever be forgotten. I feel so blessed to call her my role model, my idol, and my friend.

Thank you Taylor. Thank you so, so much - thank you on behalf of the millions of lives’ you’ve touched and the millions you will only continue to make so much more special.
