As he ascended to the final area, his heart clenched when he looked out and saw no one. There were no branching paths; there was nowhere else he could go. Where was Callum? He jumped down, heart racing, then a movement to his left caught his eye, a Guardian. However, he looked no more ready to fight him than Vasco was to fight the creature. Perhaps it was his own worry showing through, but the creature before him seemed sad, seemed worried even. “Where is he? Where is Callum?”

Alternatively: Where one door closes, another opens, and a new adventure can begin.

Today on Mother’s Day, a few thoughts about Malcolm Grimm … whom I’ve never seen as a hero or a villain.

But … he did buck every rule and convention to harbor and protect Baz, knowing he was a vampire …

In a world where vampires are slaughtered on sight and seen as a grave threat.

Baz is pretty sure that his mother would have followed the rules, but he knows that his father didn’t. That his father loved him too much to be rational.

Instead Malcolm stocked the fields and woods and barns with blood sacrifices.

Imagine how terrified Malcolm must have been to send Baz to Watford, knowing Baz would have to fend for himself there, knowing what would happen if he was found out.

Imagine how Malcolm must feel about Simon Snow, once he hears that the Chosen One is telling everyone who will listen that Malcolm’s son is a monster.

Imagine how scared Malcolm is every day that someone will notice how different Baz plainly is.

And still he suggests that Baz try to talk to someone about … it.

Malcolm Grimm! I have complicated feelings about you, buddy.

I'm sitting here stewing in the fact that we only get like... one maybe two moments where we get to see Baz's visceral reaction to the things he did or had to do when he was still at Watford.

"I wanted to make you happy, I wanted to be a good Pitch! Whatever that means..."

"Fiona... Anything I said when I was ten was just me parroting your words back to you. I wasn't being a good soldier or a good spy; I just wanted your attention."

We do get to see him being upset at the fact that he hurt Simon, continually for years, whether by his own volition or the egging of his family but damn, that has to fuck him up. Like, it obviously does because he regrets Pippa's situation so much. But good fucking lord Baz has to be just as fucked up as Simon is, obviously for entirely different reasons.

That also lends me to the fact that he probably isn't used to showing emotions like that because of his family, or rather likely because of his father. Although, as much as I love her, I can't imagine Fiona was much help in that ballfield either. He's good at hiding it and good at pretending everything is okay, but when the facts are put in front of his face, he doesn't know how to deal with it.

He tries to come off as the perfect person and untouchable, but deep down he just needs to let it out as much as the next person.

Tyrannus Basilton Grimm-Pitch needs to go to therapy.

Got through Carry On and Wayward Son just fine and now that I’m about to go back through AWtWB’s I want to hard stop because iM NOT READY FOR SIMON TO BE AN IDIOT. (An understandable idiot, but still an idiot)

I saw you having a talk with @hopeswriting so!!

Who are your favorite khr characters? :3c

Who's your favourite ship, if any?

And what is your favourite trope in khr?

Nice to meet you btw! :D

Howdy~ it’s fantastic to meet you as well.

Favorite Character(s): Fran, hands down. He was the first KHR character I cosplayed and he’s my baby boy. He’s so stupid and perfect and TYE!Fran brings me so much joy. Though everyone in the Varia is included in favorite characters (excluding Levi)

Favorite Ship(s): B26 (unsurprisingly) and 2769. Although years ago I wrote something for 1880 and I still think about that a lot.

Favorite Trope: it’s such a silly one but honestly I love shows where the mc tries to befriend everyone even if they’re terrified of them. They usually have some of my favorite interactions. Tsuna trying to befriend Mukuro, Ken, or Chikusa is always so funny cause like, he wants too. But also terrified.

Anyone wanna drop a KHR prompt in my ask go right ahead.

Tryin to get out of a writers block.

okay, breaking my silence on this i guess, so have one of my author’s notes from one of my stories. sorry not sorry, peace and love on planet earth <3

Listen to me, LISTEN TO ME. I know in canon it seems like the 10th gen wants to become mafia, or that they’re okay with it at the very least, and that they don’t care that Tsuna very much doesn’t want to become mafia until the very end, but it’s because they look at a different choice from Tsuna. For Tsuna, his options are to either become mafia and Vongola, which’d mean dragging all his friends into it too, or somehow manage to make Vongola give up on him so none of them will have to become part of the mafia. And so of course he tries his very best and his hardest to somehow achieve the latter, however unrealistic it is and how little power he has to do that, if at all, as Vongola is the strongest mafia family in the world. But he has to try anyway so none of them will become mafia, but first and foremost so none of his friends he loves so much will become mafia against their wishes, especially when it’d only happen because they happen to love him back, the last legitimate Vongola Decimo candidate.
But for the 10th gen, the choice in front of them is to whether turn their backs on Tsuna so to be free from the mafia, or keep standing by his side even if it means they become mafia. Do you get what I mean? For them, it’s always about Tsuna first and foremost before it’s ever about Vongola and if becoming mafia is something they want. They look at Tsuna and the life he’s being dragged to, very much caring that he doesn’t want any of it and yet doesn’t have the power to stop them from dragging him closer to that life, and ask themselves: “Do I love Tsuna enough to let myself be dragged to that life too, so I can help him see it through and find as much happiness as possible from it?”. And of course, of course the answer is yes and comes to them as naturally as breathing.
And so they give in because they must, because they don’t have (yet) the power to fight back against it and win. Because should they not be willing enough, they might decide they wouldn’t mind making them part of their world even if it means breaking them to make it happen, and they wouldn’t have (yet) the power to stop it from happening. To stop it from happening to Tsuna.
And so they willingly let them teach them how to be a mafioso so they’ll be able to stand their own in the world they’re forcing them to become a part of. They willingly let them teach them how to be a powerful mafioso so they’ll be strong enough to protect each other from and survive in the world they’re forcing them to become a part of. And then maybe to even still be happy in that world. (And then maybe to even break free from that world.)
They’re all doing it for each other despite none of them wanting any of it. Because they care about loving each other and doing justice to that love more than being able to do the things they want. Do you get it? Please tell me you get it!!!!

add-on:

100% agree with everything here. It’s so damn important to remember they’re 15 years old. You stick a group of adolescents together and then bombard them with shit that no kid should deal with. Of course things aren’t going to be perfect. Ofc there’s going to be weird forced interactions.

In the beginning their friendship wasn’t there, it wasn’t supposed to be. They were a group of kids thrown together because the adults in their lives thought it was right. They are all kids who were trying to figure themselves out, figure out who they wanted to be. Personalities were going to clash, there were going to be weird moments because that’s just how it normally is.

Ofc Tsuna was going to have guilt over bringing his friends into this mess, it was apparent with the Ring arc. It’s why it’s my favorite one. It’s where you can really start to see all their growth, see where they stand with each other and how they have decided to fight the adversities facing them. I think a lot of Tsuna’s guilt really started there. All of his friends got hurt, his basically baby brother nearly died and at the end of the day, it was his fault. (It wasnt, it was his dads but that’s besides the point)

By the final battle in this arc it was so clear why Tsuna was fighting and it was so clear that everyone else just wanted to stand by his side and make sure he was okay. They want to protect him as much as he protects them. Throughout the rest of the series we get to see so much growth from all of them.

Yamamoto learns how to deal with Hibari. Hibari learns how to hype (probably not the best term use but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) Tsuna up. Ryohei is the pillar that the family can lean against. Chrome is the quiet support in the back, the assassin that will protect her friends even if it makes her uncomfortable or injured in the process. Gokudera is the front man, willing to create diversions for whatever reason to protect them, he’s meant to be loud and obnoxious. Lambo is still a literal baby but he learns when to be serious, when to fight for his family even if he cries about it or uses Mama as an excuse.

Their friendship isn’t meant to be perfect. It’s meant to be the very pillar that they fight so hard for. Why do you think Tsuna was so adamant about amending things with Enma. Enma was first and foremost his friend and anything after that didn’t matter.

Pretty sure I got my thoughts all tangled so time for me to STOP.

BUT,

I get it, I’m on your side and I will die on this hill with you.

oh soo true about the varia arc being the first time when their friendship truly takes form and shines!! can’t believe i’ve never realized before that THAT’S why it’s my favorite arc too!!! (and why the shimon arc is my second favorite!!!)

By the final battle in this arc it was so clear why Tsuna was fighting and it was so clear that everyone else just wanted to stand by his side and make sure he was okay. They want to protect him as much as he protects them.

YES you get it and i’m gonna cry over this thank you. 😭❤❤❤ AND THE WAY YOU DESCRIBED THEIR RESPECTIVE ROLES IN THEIR DYNAMICS!!!! i’m gonna cry harder thank you for getting it so much and perfectly. 👌🏽🙏🏽😭😭😭❤❤❤❤

❤️❤️❤️❤️

KHR is my favorite anime and has been for years. I have many, many feelings about it. I will talk nonstop about it for no absolute reason. If you need anyone to yell to, my DMs are open. Lol

(I know very few people who enjoy this show)

I could have gone on for so much longer about how I feel about their dynamics, I could probably write a book honestly.
