Just FYI for people analyzing Dracula, Bram Stoker is simultaneously a very thorough author and very careless.

Things that Bram Stoker kept note of: literally every train route used throughout the story-- like seriously the man had to have spent hours pouring over train routes and schedules

Things that Bram Stoker did not keep note of: Lucy's hair color

My point is, there's a 50% chance the detail you noticed is actually foreshadowing, and a 50% chance that it's just a random detail Stoker thought was cool and there is no in between.

the only problem with scythes as a weapon is that you can't design one without some joyless realist deciding it's their duty to remind you how impractical they would actually be in combat. it's always "but a scythe would be useless in a real battle!!1!" and never How was the scythe the scythe looked fun it was fun.
