Okay but you see the main reason why The Old Guard is so good is how much HEART it has, especially if you compare it to similar movies.

Because, yes, it’s an action film, but the emotional component is just as present, just as important to the plot.

I could go on and on forever about how beautiful the dynamics between the main five are, how deeply they love each other. How they seamlessly work together in a fight, looking like they’re reading each other’s minds. How everything in the way they act around each other is built to show the strength of those relationship and how those relationships are what drives the whole thing forward.

But it’s not just that. It’s also about the love they feel for humanity as a whole. The love that Andy had given up on and that Nile sparks back on. And Joe, Nicky, even Booker, all of them, they may not have chosen this life, but It choose them for a reason. And that reason is the selfless, unconditional love that makes them go through hell, over and over again, with no relief, to give their help to anyone who might need it.

And until now they couldn’t see the bigger picture, the way they’ve made the world a better place through the centuries. But now they can, and I can’t wait to see what they do with that.
