i get that this is something not commonly taught so i dont blame you for not knowing what kosher slaughter entails right off the bat, but if youre gonna go and call our practices "torture" you could at least do some cursory research

being suspended is only one of the possible positions for kosher slaughter, they may also be lying down or (sometimes) standing upright, and different positions are used for fowl

its not just the trachea that is slit, but the trachea and esophagus that are required to be slit by explicit mention, but in practice, doing so properly in kosher slaughter with the right knife and the right motions also severs the carotid and jugular arteries and the vagus nerve

this is done to cut off the flow of oxygenated blood to the brain to render the animal insensate and unconscious within seconds

this in and of itself should be enough to put to rest any idea that its "torturous" or "causes the animals immense suffering" or other claims frequently put forward by people looking to ban kosher slaughter or fearmonger about jews

as to there being more humane ways to slaughter cows, some studies have suggested that kosher slaughter may be less stressful to the cow than captive bolt stunning (which is also highly dependent on correct placement for the bolt to render the animal unconscious), but these are not entirely conclusive studies

other studies, like those by Temple Grandin, a well renowned proponent for humane slaughter of livestock, have been favorable towards kosher and halal slaughter, and suggested that the treatment and handling of the livestock leading up to and during the slaughter process has a greater effect on the animals welfare than stunning does

kosher and halal slaughter practices have, at their forefront, a concern for the experience of the animal being slaughtered

when countries like belgium ban kosher slaughter but leave feedlot slaughter practices untouched, its clear that concern for the animal is little more than a cover for these countries long running antisemitism

when animal rights groups spread lies about kosher slaughter, leave out information, misconstrue things, call our practices barbaric and torturous, its clear there are other agendas at play

the fight is harder each year.

gotta keep going because nothing ever stops.

you deserve to be new and whole.

Can someone explain what’s happening besides someone being reborn?

In the first comic, which is from the Warrior’s point of view, the Warrior has defeated the Monster, who jeers that there will always be another Monster to fight. The Monster dissolves into mist, leaving another tiny, baby Monster in its place. The Warrior picks up this helpless new baby Monster and carries it away. They will try again and do better this time.

In the second comic, which is from the Monster’s point of view, the Monster says that this has to happen; it can’t come with the Warrior, and there will always be another.  It tells the Warrior to use what they have learned to fight.  It wants to die knowing that the Warrior has hope for the future.  It dissolves into mist, and the exhausted Warrior collapses. The new baby Monster comes and brings the Warrior some water in a leaf.  Because we are reading this in the Monster’s voice, we realize that it is a new Monster, but also somehow, magically, the same.  We also see that the Monster is not inherently evil.  It is only very strong, and inevitable.

The third comic is a dialogue between the Monster and the Warrior.  The Warrior is exhausted and horrifically wounded. The Monster is also horribly maimed.  They are both dying. The Warrior doesn’t want to fight anymore.  The Monster tells them to rest and heal. The Warrior hands over their amulet, and we see the Monster’s paw become a hand just before they both dissolve into mist.  It clears, revealing that the Monster has turned into a beautiful humanoid, who says they will take care of the new baby monster the Warrior has turned into.  The two have changed roles.  The Warrior takes up the former Warrior’s gear and strides into the new year with the new baby Monster riding on their shoulders.

It is a beautiful, ruthless, hopeful metaphor about keeping up the good fight, year after year, even when we are worn down, and how we can still face the new year with hope and light, no matter how painful the last one was, and how it is okay to rest if we can’t fight.

It’s not the new year, but things are so difficult for so many of us right now, and we are so worn down from so many fights on so many fronts, I feel like we could all use this again.  Love, rest, fight, love.

amazon’s entire schtick is to run other businesses into the ground by undercutting prices then ruling over their peasant customers.

FedEx just refuses to deliver to my house. It’s too rural. They just won’t do it. The USPS is gutted. If I need supplies or food or any emergency anything, am I going to risk the package being destroyed or never getting to my house, or grit my teeth and go with the chaotic evil monsters who will nonetheless give me the food or medicine I need?

And guess what? Amazon is directly and indirectly responsible for both the state of FedEx and the state of the USPS. They were allowed to create a monopoly and they were PREPARED for the further gutting of the USPS we’ve seen in late 2020. In my rural area, with a pandemic on? I think people don’t understand what I mean when I say I have no choice sometimes, the same as I have no choice but to buy Comcast internet even tho it’s overpriced and unreliable.

It. Is. A. Monopoly. By. Design. We’re being given no choice. The solution isn’t to attack the consumers; it’s to force the government to undermine the company and to actually support its citizens with things like the USPS.

congrats to the ARAs who got facebook to ban animal sales. shortly before then, many rare heritage chicken breeds were getting much needed attention to save the breeds thanks to various agricultural facebook pages highligting them. but now, with the ban of animal sales on facebook, those heritage breeds have become damn near impossible to find again. guess what that means? the breeds will begin dying out again. people will go back to hatcheries who mass produce unhealthy chicken breeds in horrible conditions. folks will always buy chickens, but now instead of buying them from ethical breeders on facebook they’ll be supporting a terrible industry, woohoo.

hope y’all are proud.

We are, actually!

Slowly but surely your industry will go extinct, just like those breeds of chicken!

thanks for the love and attention uwu

I think this interaction is very important for people to see.

animal welfare advocates work to make sure heritage, healthy breeds survive as an alternative to corporate breeds like the Cornish X, which grow so quickly that their legs eventually collapse under their own ballooning flesh. heritage breeds like the Brahma, Cochin, and Legbar (left to right below) grow and lay at a normal life, and can happily scratch about, dig holes in your grass to nap in, rip the leaves off your garden plants one by one, and make very funny sounds with their functional beautiful bodies, all while providing you with food.

‘animal rights’ advocates like @gendercontender would prefer a world in which the relationship between chickens and their keepers (and the chickens themselves) did not exist. I would go ask Tallgeese, Yennefer, Anzu, Milkshake, Henny and Perchy what they think of all this, but fortunately they’re too busy tearing apart a fresh green head of lettuce like the tiny funny velociraptors they are.

Also literally every single accomplishment of animal rights activists seems to do exponentially more damage to the small guy than the big guy. Broiler crosses are still being produced by the billion in an essentially untouchable industry but good job ruining farmer joe schmoe and his government allowed maximum of 99 layers (Canadian law thanks to quota). The political policy equivalent of releasing cane toads to take down cane beetles or w/e. Its great that you feel good about yourselves and you hate animal agriculture but you can do shit all to stop the cooperate poultry industry so have fun picking on the little guy I guess.

By the way, the facebook rule ONLY targets small individual breeders, because if you are selling animals tied to a registered business you’re allowed to post them on facebook. That’s why you still see pet stores selling puppies, auction houses listing dairy cattle, registered horse farms selling foals, on Facebook. A USDA licensed puppy mill (that’s a thing and the USDA licence does not mean it’s a nice place) can post and sell their puppies on Facebook while a hobbyist dog breeder who does it for love and invests every dollar back into health testing and proper care cannot. It only affects hobbyists.

A big reason I’ve sort of been turning anti-law/rules lately, every “well meaning” law only harms poor individuals and never huge companies. Less restrictions but more people thinking for themselves, please.

wHY DOES THIS HAVE JUST 308 NOTES???? THE ENTIRE WORLD SHOULD BE SHARING THIS. CHINA IS LITERALLY COMMITTING THE HOLOCAUST, ONLY THIS TIME ON MUSLIMS AND Y’ALL ARE SILENT?

People might not be reblogging this because the first tweet makes unnecessary (and untrue) Holocaust comparisons. Taken from @nat_slay on Twitter (I don’t know the original source):

As a Jewish person, I appreciate those saying that this is not okay and that it is misinformation. No, 6 million Uyghur Muslims have not been murdered.

And, as a Jewish person, I know that 6 million very well could be murdered. This is not another Shoah, but it very well could become another. As a Jewish person, I feel we must say “never again.”

Never again.

“Never again” does not mean “this event was so uniquely horrible, it could never happen again.” It means “this event was horrible, but not unique. We have to make sure it never happens again.”

Never again.

The Uyghur death count isn’t 6 million, that is misinformation. But “never again” means we have to make sure it doesn’t become 6 million.

If you are not Jewish or Romani, do not draw comparisons to the Holocaust. All that provides is shock value and misinformation. What you can do is support Uyghur Muslims.

Starting Jan. 1, employers will no longer have to give workers with COVID-19, or those taking care of someone with the virus, two weeks of paid leave.

Congress is letting the coronavirus paid leave guarantee expire at the end of the month without an extension. The $900 billion relief package Congress passed late Monday does extend tax credits for employers offering paid leave until March. That means the federal government will pay for paid sick leave for another three months, but businesses are no longer required to offer it.

In March, Congress guaranteed workers up to two weeks of fully paid sick leave if they contract COVID-19. The program also mandates two weeks of paid leave for those caring for someone required to quarantine, and 10 weeks of emergency child care leave if schools or child care facilities are shut down, paid out at two-thirds of a worker’s regular salary. Employers were given a refundable tax credit to cover the costs of paying out paid sick leave.

Congress passed the "stimulus" bill, it includes a broad and vauge change to internet law that makes it now a FELONY to violate copyrights via piracy or other reduplication, such as memes.

https://www.tvtechnology.com/news/pirating-streaming-content-to-become-felony

Yes, this bill does go after people who pirate music and movies, but since basically all memes include *some* copyrighted content of *some* kind, and the bill is worded so broadly, and literally everyone on the internet is exposed to memes in some way or another, the government just gave itself the power to selectively throw whoever they want in federal prison at any given moment.

Oh but we got $600 of our own dollars given back to us so this is fine, right??!?!

So y’all remember that whole “If the government is allowed to strip you of your right to vote as punishment for a crime, that just incentivizes the government to make you a criminal” thing from earlier this year? Yeah.

I should also like to note that, by and large many of the people voting on this don’t know this shit is written into the bill. It’s over 5,000 pages long and they were given only HOURS to skim it. GET ON THE FUCKING HORN AND TELL YOUR REPS NOT TO VOTE FOR THIS.

If you are a US citizen, submit comments to Intellectual_Property@tillis.senate.gov before close of business on Friday, March 5th, 2021.

Do it in numbers, and if it moves forward as a bill, get ready to do it again with every congressional representative you have.

The war on sex workers has been in place for a long time. I think that any of you that have followed me long enough online, have been able to watch this happen to many of us.

For me, it started with PayPal in 2015. Paypal is highly religious and discovered a topless photo on DeviantArt and banned my PayPal for "sex work" and inappropriate content - Which made it really difficult for photographers to pay me while traveling. To take custom requests. They limited my account and held over 3k worth of funds for almost six months.

I tried to get a Chase bank account in 2017 and I was denied because of my job.

2018 Tumblr decided that they would no longer support pornography. There was a mass exodus and almost 3/4ths of my followers left the platform.

2019 Patreon decided to no longer support any sort of pornography. I sat down with them for zoom calls. I talked to some of the creators of the website. I explained how women that create sexual material ARE creators. We help create platforms and then we are always the first to be told to leave. I asked them to help protect us... but they crumbled. Too much pressure. Porn was eliminated from their site and now there is talk that nudity is will be removed soon.

This week, was the attack on Pornhub. And yes, child pornography is disgusting and Pornhub is a cesspool of revenge porn and stolen content. But it is deeper than that. This sets a scary precedent that large billing companies like Visa and Mastercard could start looking at other porn websites. To start meddling elsewhere.

This week, Visa suspended service payments to Brazzers and a handful of other sex sites.

It is just a matter of time before sites like Onlyfans and Manyvids and all our sex platforms will see changes. I hope that it doesn't happen soon. I have so so much that I want to accomplish.

This topic always has me on edge. Watching sex workers being eliminated from IG and TikTok - Silently removed. One by one. No one really cares much. They always say things like, "Sex doesn't belong in those place anyways" - But how many of you FOUND ME through social media? Blogspot, MySpace, Tumblr. Instagram, Twitter? This is how humans network. It is how we find each other on the internet.

So the music industry is trying to make it a felony to violate DMCA on Twitch, and thus everywhere else. It's coming to vote in 2 days

Okay I'm not trying to be hyperbolic but this is like. astronomically important.

PLEASE do not ignore this. this is going to affect literally anyone and everyone who has ever in any way posted any kind of copyrighted material. this is coming to vote. included in this spending bill they will be making a small claims court in the US Copyright Office for copyright disputes, meaning that the federal government will be arbitrating on all of these.

I have no idea what can be done to stop this, it's part of the spending bill, so.... I guess maybe we're just fucked? but people seriously, seriously need to be aware of this.

Dec. 13, 2020

Racial terrorists known as “Proud Boys” steal BLM banners from D.C churches and burn the banners. Police presence amounted to protecting the terrorists, facing counter-protestors instead. Police allegedly blamed BLM for the domestic terror and assaults carried out by Trump’s base.

Michigan’s legislature’s office buildings will be closed on Monday because of “credible threats of violence” but details of the threats were not released. Michigan’s capital was stormed earlier this year by armed white nationalists, who also threatened to kidnap the state’s governor.
