There’s a small bell attached to the door of the record store and it tinkles whenever someone enters the shop. Evangeline hears the familiar sound as she is in the back of the store, unpacking boxes that have been delivered in the morning.
She brushes a strand of hair out of her face and walks towards the counter to stand behind it. She doesn’t see him at first but when she does her heart flutters nervously.
Shawn has entered the shop, wearing a brown cardigan and dark pants and he strides towards the counter with a confidence in his step that she rarely sees. She has to admit that she likes it. He looks good. Rosy cheeks and longish brown curls tousled slightly.
He places his palms on the counter, rings on display and she glances at the turquoise one that is glistening in the golden sunlight.

The recording studio is bathed in sunlight, making it look like someone has put a sepia filter on it. It almost looks tidy if it wasn’t for the specks of dust on some of the instruments. Evangeline sighs, gently rubbing a soft cloth along the body of an acoustic guitar. This was her favorite time of the day. Late afternoon when the sun started to sink slowly, turning her surroundings into golden hues.
