"Dont drink coffee after 2 PM" is such a neurotypical issue that sounds made up. Such a thing couldnt happen to me, ADHD Georg, who has coffee past 9:30 PM and can still fall asleep freely because I have a natural toxicity resistance to caffeine.

God, sometimes I just sit back, still in awe of how we don't know how much of Dragon Age 2 is canonically true. From the prologue on, it is established that Varric is an unreliable narrator and DA:I confirms that Varric CONTINUED to lie to Cassandra through the whole story specifically to protect both Hawke and himself. So, like, every bit of DA2 story that isn't confirmed in Inquisition or in other material may or may not have happened. Or maybe it happened in an entirely different way. No one besides Varric (and those who were there) knows!

And THEN if you think about any scenes where Varric wasn't there, those are all probably second hand via Hawke, so they're also colored by Hawke's perspective/information they chose to give to or withhold from Varric. And it is just! Such! Good! Storytelling! And leaves so much room for interpretation/headcanon/fanfic! Listen, DA2 will always be my fav Dragon Age game.

In what distant deeps or skies

Burnt the fire of thine eyes?

On what wings dare he aspire?

What the hand, dare seize the fire?

The fuck is wrong with people??? I really don't get the hate for satine. Do people not realize that mandalorian warrior culture is fucked up? And they are calling her the fascist??

This always confused me too.

I always thought Satine and Obi-Wan were always supposed to be sort of muddy reflections of each other. They are both a kind of miracle of circumstances. Satine is a Mandalorian who brought peace (very deliberately because of her pacifist beliefs) , Obi-Wan a Jedi who always gets brought to the front lines of war (usually in spite of what he may believe). Both are remarkable people, and the audience are obviously meant to view them as equals. Given Obi-Wan is considered one of the best of the Jedi-I think one of the best of the Mandalorians has to be a title bestowed on Satine.

Mandalorian warrior culture, and it’s inherent flaws is really well explored through Death Watch. Violence resulting in harming civilians, killing even their own, and handing control over to Maul. At that point Mandalore essentially fell and hasn’t seem to have recovered even post imperial era going by the madalorian trailer, despite the fact that clans of mandalorian warriors obviously still exist (we meet a number of them in Rebels).

Based on that, and the little pre phantom menace canon I know, I think an argument can made that Mandalore’s greatest years were under Satine. Peaceful, united, not in out and clan warfare or crushed by an empire. She even held out against being dragged into a galaxy wide war for an impressive length of time. The sheer willpower involved in getting clans of warriors to lay down arms and stop murdering each other, then coexist, and continue to do so even as the galaxy crashes down around you cannot be underestimated.

I think a lot of the hate comes down to the fact she’s not particularly “cool” to watch. She isn’t going to be doing backflips and killing things. Her war is a war of words. Less impressive to look at, but ultimately an astonishing achievement.
