Is there an update on delivery?

Avatar

Hello!

In regards to updates revolving around deliveries, we are still experiencing hangs up with Patreon and forms replies from people who were offline. We don’t want to start shipping until all of those are settled so it’s all done at once.

We apologise for any inconveniences this may have caused.

Thank you!

Good morning,

Mod Dommi here to elaborate a bit on what exactly’s going on.

Firstly, as previously stated, for me to be able to manage fulfillment for Prism, I needed to close the leftovers of @yoispyzine. Spy zine closed on 9/18, and I still have some details to settle such as payouts and final profit shares for those participants. I chose to delay our shipping because the more I have to juggle at once, the more likely I will make mistakes somewhere. I’d rather do it right and slow than do it fast and wrong. I’m sure you all agree.

Secondly, the issue with Patreon is this: about 20 or so of the buyers on that platform did not cancel their pledges as prompted to in June. In order to gather everyone’s information to begin fulfillment, I had to reactivate the account to download the CSV files with your addresses etc. This caused those 20 people to get charged a second time on 9/1, which means having to issue all of them refunds.

Now, when you issue a refund through PayPal, PayPal returns their cut from their fees to the buyer alongside your net revenue, so the buyer gets their full money back pain free. (This is the probably one thing PayPal does right.)

Patreon does not do this, and reactivating us put us at the new higher fee structure instead of the old to boot. This means we’re short money on refunds, and because nothing is ever simple, Patreon doesn’t allow you to issue partial refunds through their platform. So I’ve been focusing on getting the remaining few people their funds back through outside means, because to me that is an emergency.

In addition, a significant number of our buyers were offline due to travel or other circumstances when we opened our form, and we are receiving several emails per week still about needing to fill it out. Until I’m confident we have most buyers updated information, I’m not comfortable beginning fulfillment as postage is extremely expensive and zines can’t afford a ton of Return to Sender packages and second sets of postage.

I’m going to speak very plainly here for a minute: anytime a zine gives you directions, please make sure you read them and follow them to the letter, because when you don’t, things like the above happen which causes significant delays. If we tell you to fill something out, don’t skip parts causing us to chase you down for the necessary information. If we ask you to cancel a pledge etc, make sure you have so having to figure out mass refunds doesn’t cause setbacks on other pieces of the project. If there’s a FAQ, read it and check the answered asks tag before you send in that question.

Zines are small teams of people doing these projects as labors of love in our spare time, and we do not have the luxury of having a dedicated crisis management team, retention office, or customer care call center like Amazon or any other large box store does.

I also do not point this out as a guilt trip, but on top of both of my parents and my dog having cancer, I have to work multiple jobs to keep up with my bills while dealing with some not-minor health issues of my own. I’m one person, none of the other mods are local to me to offer physical help with the packing, and all four of them have been hit by serious real life issues that require most of their attention as well.

There is only so quickly a team of one or two can move compared to a full team of five, and the other mods needed to prioritize offline situations for reasons that they can disclose if they so choose. They were gracious enough to allow me similar reprieves with my mother’s diagnosis, the least I can do is return the favor in their time of need. But it does mean that things move slower than they should.

I apologize that updating the blog and other social media has fallen to the wayside, I really do, but we’re all doing our best in extreme circumstances. You will get your zines as soon as humanly possible, but the above complications have put a bit of a hold on things.

So, regarding the form: if you do not email us or fill it out by October 2nd, that is it. We will ship/fulfill to what we have already, and if it gets sent back to us, that’s a lack of due diligence on your end. This has gone on almost a month longer than I said the form would be open for, we cannot keep it open in perpetuity. Please understand, we want to get your bundles to you and correctly the first time, but we can’t wait indefinitely.

Regarding Patreon refunds: I am still trying to figure out how to pay out the remaining ones that cannot be due to being only a partial balance in our Patreon and buyers not having access to PayPal or other pay out means. The zine’s PayPal is still frozen as well, so that’s an additional conundrum. When I have this sorted, then I will proceed with the disbursement of the final refunds.

After this, I will begin shipping the zines. I do not have a set timeframe yet, but when there is one, I will notify everyone. I also have a local friend helping me pack, so actual fulfillment should go quickly when it begins.

Thank you again for your patience and support.

Store Announcement

Hello!

Sorry to interrupt your normal pre-orders, but we wanted to let you all know what is going on regarding PayPal and our storefront.  Early this morning, we were notified that due to carrying the digital copy of the R18 book on our store, PayPal was temporarily freezing our account so that we could have an opportunity to remove it, notify them, and then they would allow us to continue our sales. Digital R18 content violates the PayPal terms of use, and they’ve begun cracking down on zines that sell these types of products.

Mod Dommi contacted PayPal as soon as she was able for clarification and confirmation of the next necessary steps; in order to proceed, we are required to remove the NSFW PDF as its own product as well as an add-on to the relevant bundles. We do not need to remove the R18 physical zine, just the digital.

However, we know many of you want that PDF, and we want to make our customers happy above all else. We’re currently working on a solution for this, but as our store is temporarily suspended, we’re hoping we can have some time to enable this.

PayPal says they will not give us a final answer about if we meet their conditions or not for 72 hours, so we likely will hear back Sunday afternoon EST regarding the issue. If it doesn’t work, they’re allowing us to make a second attempt and we will immediately update you all regarding any further delays.

If you have already purchased the R18 digital copy, we have verified that this does NOT impact you. You do not need to be refunded and your order will stay exactly as it is.

We’ll continue to update you all should anything change, but for now please do not attempt to order through our storefront. As soon as we can take orders again, we will let you all know, and for the inconvenience, we’ll be extending our sales period a TBD timeframe once we have this fully resolved.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding. We’re incredibly sorry about the inconvenience as well as delay.

your happiness in a vase

Here’s my preview, your happiness in a vase, for @yoimagiczine. Preorders begin March 14th. ;)

“Are you sure you want those?”
Viktor’s hand falters where it hovers over a bucket of yellow carnations.
“Why do you always make me second-guess my taste in flowers?” he sighs, but he looks at the florist and adores the gentle smile on his face.
Yuuri has this weird obsession with the language of flowers. Viktor finds it rather counterproductive to his business, but he doesn’t have the heart to tell him so. Yuuri has, more than once, talked Viktor out of buying explicitly expensive bouquets in favor of cheaper ones–just because their message fit the recipient better.
“It’s a graduation present, right? Carnations are fine, but the yellow kind will bring a series of rejections upon your friend.”
“Why do you sell them then?” Viktor asks curiously. It’s not the first time he wonders if Yuuri cares this deeply about all of his customers. The florist just shrugs, the same smile still adorning his lips, and Viktor’s question stays unanswered.
“Yura will be a nightmare if I give him something girly,” Viktor continues, leaning close to the neighboring bucket and inspecting the pink variation.
“I know exactly what you need,” Yuuri says. It’s a good enough promise that it lures Viktor close to see what he’s doing crouching behind the counter.
Yuuri picks out a strange flower from a fresh pile that isn’t in the buckets yet. The spike-like orange petals are a stark contrast to the single, bright blue, similarly pointy tongue. It’s the sort of flower even Yuri Plisetsky would accept without complaint.
“Amazing,” Viktor says, stunned because he’s seen nothing like this before.
“It’s a bird of paradise.”
“I can’t decide which one is more impressive, the name or the flower,” Viktor admits. “What message would I send with this?”
Even more impressive is the pink creeping up on Yuuri’s cheeks and Viktor’s glad he can pretend he’s mesmerized by the flower when really, it’s Yuuri he’s watching.
“Magnificence.” Such a simple word, yet as Yuuri says it, Viktor feels its weight.
“Sounds powerful.”
Yuuri hums as he bends back down behind the counter. “What’s your price limit today? These are rather expensive.”
“I promise you won’t push me into bankruptcy. Make me something a moody boy will like?”
Yuuri carefully selects ten stems and ties them tightly together. The flowers look unique enough to make an impression without colorful tissue paper and ribbons; he wraps the flowers’ leaves around the stems, hiding them and making them easier on the fingers to hold. The result reminds Viktor of a fireball, orange flames with slivers of blue sticking out here and there.
Yuuri knows how to create beautiful things; it’s a wonder his shop isn’t more popular. It’s a good ten minutes’ walk from Viktor’s home and just a few streets away from Makkachin’s favorite park, so Viktor passes it at least four times a day. He’s never seen a queue, not even during Valentine’s Day. The selfish part of Viktor doesn’t mind it; if Yuuri were busier, it would be impossible to hang out with him like this.
Viktor wishes he could stay longer, like he normally does, but he can’t be late for Yura’s graduation. He begrudgingly pays, takes the bouquet, and says his goodbye.
“Viktor…?” Yuuri calls after him and he turns around, his heart already fluttering because he knows what will happen next. Viktor likes to think it’s a tradition.

“Just Once”

For @wewritevictuuri‘s weekly prompt

***

Victor is drowning in bliss

An ocean of silk laps at his skin as he lies happy and spent, the exhaustion of the day’s celebrations all fading away into the sweetness of the champagne on his tongue and the warmth of his husband’s embrace.

His husband.

He chuckles a little as he turns to press a small kiss just over Yuuri’s heart. It had only been a few hours since it was made official, but he can’t help but wonder if he’ll ever get tired of hearing the word.

Flicking his eyes up, he laughs softly as Yuuri tries to steady his breathing, chest rising and falling rapidly from the rather thorough demonstration of eros he’d just performed.

“Wow,” Yuuri eventually whispers, slowly stroking his fingers down the length of Victor’s spine, pausing at the soft skin of his lower back. “That was amazing.”

“You stole my line,” Victor chuckles, quietly groaning as he tries to stretch his legs. “I’m not sure I’ll be able to walk in the morning.”

Yuuri huffs out his own laugh as he pulls Victor a little further up his body, expression soft as he reaches out to gently brush the curve of his cheek. “You know, I don’t think I’ve ever wanted someone this much.”

Victor smiles at the words before he twists his head to kiss the palm of his hand, lips caressing the delicate skin gently. “Hmmm. I think I have.”

Yuuri raises an eyebrow. “Oh really?”
