there’s still something so desperately poetic and perfect about how adam is embarrassed by being a mechanic bc of what he’s internalized about labor-based / working-class jobs, & how gansey is completely thrilled by / respectful of adam’s knowledge and expertise because he instinctively values working-class skills As Valuable And Necessary Skills, & how gansey, though clueless and toe-stepping and presumptuous and occasionally arrogant, never thinks of manual labor as something “beneath” him, & how gansey’s desire to learn to fix the pig establishes his broader much deeper characterization of wanting to learn and grow, & how it’s that desire to learn that lets adam relax around him and be honest with another aglionby boy and make a friend for the first time EVER, bc adam values people who want to learn even if they’re starting from an incredibly clueless place

i think we as a fandom don’t talk enough about how fucking funny the gray man is. i’ve been debating what points to make in my case and have narrowed it down to two

1) deciding maura is probably an environmentalist because she doesn’t wear shoes indoors

2) being like “okay i will straight up beat a man to death and leave his body for his high school aged kid to find but i absolutely am not doing kidnapping. too much work involved in preserving the cargo. also alive people talk and cry and beg and i’m not into it. please let me drive around with bludgeoned corpses in the back in peace”

like PLEASE ..... PLEASE he canonically is like “honestly i’d be down to hit ronan with a semi truck and then bury his body in the woods where itll never be found but i am Too Honorable to kidnap him” and everyone’s like “yeah that sounds like normal priorities. anyway wyd later”

ok i know it’s basic of me to be an adam kinnie and problematic of me to be a gansey stan.... but it’s about the quiet trauma bro. like ronan is so loud about his: tattoo shaved head all black angry. blue is loud too, just look at how she dresses and acts and makes energy more powerful. gansey and adam are different, obviously, but they are oh so suppressed and also nerds. like huge ass nerds.
