The Barnes home buzzed with anticipation of a new year. Not that the last 10 years were horrible. Three years prior, Bucky and Thea welcomed an adorable baby girl into their lives. Zoey Olivia Barnes, Bucky’s carbon copy was the apple of his cerulean eyes. Although he never thought himself worthy of having a family, fate had other ideas. Now, his days were spent enjoying life as it should be.
Thea lovingly gazed at Zoey, giggling trying to put a Happy New Year 2020 hat on her dad. “Daddy, put you hat on.”
“Okay sweetie. Want me t’put yours on?”
“Peese? Tank you.” Zoey watched as Bucky positioned a 2020 crown on her little head. “It too big.” Her little eyebrows knitted together.
Chuckling, Bucky adjusted the tiara. “Now it fits, Peanut.”
“Yaaaay.” Zoey kissed Bucky’s clean shaven cheek. “Bye bye. I go pway now. Luff you momma.”
Thea blew her a kiss. “Momma loves you too.”

“Peanut’s awfully quiet. Let’s check on her.” Bucky and Thea looked in on their daughter.
Half-asleep, Zoey balked at the idea of going to bed.
“Time for bed sweetheart.” Bucky picked her up, sitting on the bed.
“No, daddy. I don’t wanna go bed.” Zoey rubbed her eyes.
“Yes, sweetie. It’s almost 11:00 p.m.”
Yawning, Zoey relented. “’Kay mommy. I go sleep now.”
Shaking his head, Bucky laughed. “She’s just like her Uncle Stevie, stubborn.”
“Oh please, you’re just as pigheaded James Buchanan Barnes.”

New Years Eve 11:55 p.m.
Thea had a surprise for her husband. There will be an addition to their family in the fall.
Thea pulled a tiny box from the end table drawer, placing it in Bucky’s vibranium hand.
Brows furrowed, Bucky slowly opened it tiny box. Inside, a pregnancy test with a note taped to it….“Coming Soon.”
As the clock struck midnight, tears fell from Bucky’s eyes. “Doll, m’gonna be a dad again.”
Through tears, Thea nodded. “Yeah. Happy New Year, Sarge.”
