❝ half-humans are a real threat in the land under shadow. they are but legend in the west, but my mother speaks of them as though they truly snatched babies from their nurseries when no one was looking. ❞ she is a well-spoken sort ; viable at telling tales, true or false. the girl is privy to speaking the common tongue around strangers nowadays, with her asshai’i accent ( borrowed from her father ) seemingly fading more and more. ❝ there is nothing lost in that darkness... hideous things are stowed away there, so they say. though, i never ventured too far in myself. ❞ @arcanemistrust | sc

collectively, the unwillingness to tackle racism, etc. among asoiaf/got rpers shouldn’t be a hardship, in comparison to the overt willingness to write incest, sexism, classism, etc.

Yi Ti is a nation and region in Essos located east of Qarth and the Bone Mountains and bordered by the Jade Sea to the south. Nearby islands in the Jade Sea are Leng and the Isle of Whips. North of Yi Ti are the Great Sand Sea, the Shrinking Sea, and the Bleeding Sea; a great river runs south from the Bleeding Sea through Yi Ti to the Jade Sea. Located east of Yi Ti are the Mountains of the Morn, the Shadow Lands, and Asshai. In the Common Tongue things relating to Yi Ti are known as “YiTish”.
The realm of the YiTish civilization is known as the Golden Empire of Yi Ti, which was, according to legend, preceded by the Great Empire of the Dawn. Maester Yandel speculates the YiTish civilization was contemporary with the realm of the Fisher Queens, whereas the YiTish priests insist that mankind’s first towns and cities arose along the shores of the Jade Sea, dismissing the rival claims of the Sarnori and Ghiscari as the boasts of savages and children.
she watches with hitched breath && an arrow trained at the hide of the great bear. steadied limbs and poised fingers draw it back against the thread of her bow, and her eyes do narrow in strain to see passed the mangled branches and the underbrush of the forest. he is, by far, a massive thing, but she had taken down beasts tenfold of his size. she would not be dissuaded into letting such a thing live. she would not cower now, intimidated by its stature. she knew well enough that more than one shot would be her best bet, but every arrow would need to count. penetrate the neck, she told herself, severe the spine. @bruinblccd | sc

we had to leave the home we had behind, in haste. we left our people, our wealth, our culture ; we abandoned everything so that who we were would not be lost. so that we would not become another fable, another tall tale off the lips of children && speculators. ━━━━━ and now we thrive.
They called him the Lion of Lannister to his face and whispered "Kingslayer“ behind his back.

A fabled land even in the Seven Kingdoms, Yi Ti is a large and diverse country, a realm of windswept plains and rolling hills, jungles and rain forests, deep lakes and rushing rivers and shrinking inland seas. Its legendary wealth is such as to allow its princes to live in houses of solid gold and dine on sweetmeats powdered with pearls and jade. … In ancient days, the god-emperors of Yi Ti were as powerful as any ruler on earth, with wealth that exceeded even that of Valyria at its height and armies of almost unimaginable size. … Yi Ti was beyond question one of the places where men first climbed from the pit of savagery to civilization… and literacy, for the wise men of the east have been reading and writing for many years. … the Golden Empire has known golden ages and dark ages, it has waxed and waned and waxed again throughout the centuries, that it has weathered floods and droughts and sandstorms and quaking of the earth so violent as to swallow entire cities, that thousands of heroes and cravens and concubines and wizards and scholars have passed across the pages of its histories. The dark city by the Shadow is a city steeped in sorcery. Warlocks, wizards, alchemists, moonsingers, red priests, black alchemists, necromancers, aeromancers, pyromancers, bloodmages, torturers, inquisitors, poisoners, godswives, night-walkers, shapechangers, worshippers of the Black Goat and the Pale Child and the Lion of Night, all find welcome in Asshai-by-the-Shadow, where nothing is forbidden. Here they are free to practice their spells without restraint or censure, conduct their obscene rites, and fornicate with demons if that is their desire.
