For me, this was a very important award. A queer, teen kiss winning hopefully will pave the way for greater acceptance and even understanding in the future. Also, this kiss was very character building and plot centric. It is a very meaningful kiss to the entire narrative of Moonlight. This cannot always be said about kisses in media which can be done for ratings or to make fans happy. This kiss had a lot of meaning to Chiron’s character and shapes the way he is and the way he becomes and talks a lot of who he and Kevin are. 

This kiss makes me cry. It is a beautiful reminder that love can have meaning.
