ask-sofia-arvino:
Lady Arvino was looking off to the distance, at the blue water. She had a small but tristful smile on her face.
“I wish I knew. No, I don’t believe it’s inherently due to just money, but… due to the effects it has on humans.” Sofia turned to Awa, trying to see if her explanation helped. “Money can keep you safe from many everyday dangers. It can provide comfort - but too much comfort in life makes you unprepared for the harshness of reality, once you get out. And everyone has to get out eventually.”
A pleasant wind was blowing, and Sofia raised her hand to hold her tiny hat, now smiling a bit more boldly. “You’re a good-hearted young woman, Awa; and I sense, strong-willed as well. I am delighted to have met you.”
It was somewhat after noon, and clouds thickened around Zaun on the distant shore, the next destination of the cruiser.
“Awa, I have been… targeted by the evil of Zaun, or so they say. But I have been hurt much more by my native Piltover. Even so, if you plan on going to the city of privileges, don’t take anything for granted. Alright?”
Awa sat in silence for a while, processing what she just heard. She tried to push away the dreadful thoughts which came to her mind as Sofia mentioned how comfort makes you unprepared.
She set her eyes on the horizont, where Zaun could be seen. Her excitement slightly lowered, as the dreadful thoughts started taking over. What if she really was unprepared? Would she be safer at home?
She did her best to think of something else.
“So.... The evil of Zaun, huh? Like.... What kind of evil?” She followed Sofia’s gaze onto the blue water. “....Soon after we departed from home, i heard many people speak about Noxus. They said it is an evil place.” She looked into Lady Arvino’s eyes. “But i don’t think it’s evil, you know? It can be harsh, especially for people who weren’t born there. It was even for me. But i don’t think it’s evil. It’s just different from what the people were used to. Maybe it’s the same for the evil of Zaun you spoke about. Maybe it’s not evil, but different.”
