Do you think about when it was snowing outside and we ran out together? When I showed you my childhood home?

This morning I went out to get some non slip shoes. There was a woman waiting out by the door when I got in and got out. I am so dazed and depleted I almost didn't hear her asking me to help her get an Uber home. Her English wasn't great but I can pick up on some words of arabic-- only the ones associated with blessings. She was from Egypt.

When my Uber pulled up, she kept referring to me as her son among other kind words. I ended up going down town, learning that she is here to take care of her son, that she was very successful but gave up everything to be with her son. She said some things to me and gripped my hands and this was the first time I had cried in a few days. She kept grabbing my hands, blessing me and crying so then I would start to.

The driver was also very emotional. She talked about how her husband of 28 years cheated on her, how her son died the year prior and we all just had a brief time where we all felt like we were together in this.

When we pulled up to the apartments downtown we all hugged, said kind words and went on our respective journies-- I had helped the first woman with her groceries into her apartment which happened to be the same ones I tried applying to multiple times haha

She showed me kindness and gave me the opportunity to be vulnerable. I felt like she was my mother. I hope I get to see her again. I'm so very grateful.

I don't really know who to tell this story to so I'll just put it here. Maybe I'll do that now
