For context:
The violinist is Alexander Rybak, a Belorussian violinist whose family defected from the USSR to Norway. One of the songs he’s mashing up is his own “Fairytale”, Norway’s entry that won the 2009 Eurovision.
The other song, which is the one playing on the amp, is “Stefania” by the Kalush Orchestra, Ukraine’s entry that won the 2022 Eurovision. The song is about the writer’s own mother, and also about mothers who protect their children from war. Once Russia invaded, the song became a war anthem.
So this isn’t just a gorgeous piece of music. It’s a political piece about unity between people who have been oppressed by the same empire.

i learned that in India, there is a species of giant squirrel that have multicoloured fur, with with varying shades of orange, maroon and purple. Their bodies measure 36in from head to tail – double the size of their grey relatives – and they can leap 20ft between trees (x)
Some more pictures of these funky dudes cause they’re so pretty
Oh, and they’re very cleverly called Indian giant squirrels or Malabar giant squirrels
They look like heat-treated steel!
See?
This is like if someone said Draw me a mammal and that was the only instruction, cause like, yep this sure is a Mammal

I designed and made a pigeon jumper. My most recent resolved project was documenting my daily experiences through textiles. I see pigeons every day so I made a jumper about them.
While I was making this jumper, my friend @elodieunderglass told me about Kyoto Ohata’s pigeon shoes, which I distantly remember from tumblr. I like this tendency to relate to animals through representing them in a way that, ultimately, isn’t actually relevant to the animal. Pigeons like food, I brought no food, they would have no reason to be interested in me. But I still tried!
