but this episode contains the scene that makes it clear Laios cannot understand social cues, tone of voice, sarcasm, or subtlety. He actively suffers socially with other humans.

Shuro is pissed Laios didnt pick up on the fact that he hated Laios, because he was being passive aggressive (at best, Shuro bottled up a lot of feelings), and said verbally he was Laios' friend. Laios takes things at face value, if someone says "im your friend" that's what he believes is true.

He hates that Laios "gets to be genuine". I hate the way he says that "gets" as if its a privilege for Laios. It's a privilege for Shuro who is nobility and has his behavior and emotions stifled. Laios doesnt understand that others are NOT genuine. he's not from that world.

that's why Laios asks "why didnt you TELL me?" and Shuro says it should have been obvious.

And also, that was who Laios thought was his FIRST friend on the island. he thought he made a friend, something actively difficult for him to do.

More stories from hell (retail) today I was ringing up this lady and she goes oh I want to do part of this on a gift card and the rest on normal card and I go ok and then she hands me a folded piece of paper. Something I always find bizarre is when people mention something along the lines of "You always act like your opinions are correct and everyone else is wrong" as like. A moral or personal flaw. Because like. I'm pretty sure that's just how opinions work.

No one goes through life like "man my opinions are SO wrong". No dipshit everyone thinks their opinions are the correct ones otherwise they wouldn't hold those opinions idiot.

Like if you think someone is self-righteous about their opinions or too unwilling to consider anything that challenges them they say that, but "you always think your opinions are SO correct" is such an absurd criticism, like. okay so do you dumbass so does everyone.

obviously i love jhutch and im usually very quick to defend his overly enthusiastic allyship in the 2010s because a) i do genuinely think he cares about lgbt rights and b) i was in highschool in the 2010s, i remember how huge it was for a famous person to be even slightly supportive of lgbt people, let alone doing actual charity work
