You know that advice people give that's like "when you buy things for your wedding, don't tell them it's for a wedding and it'll cost less." Now that I work in the wedding industry...Jesus Christ do not do this.

It is incredibly annoying and STUPIDLY obvious. I promise we know EVERY TIME. You will get the same price or more than you would have paid otherwise and you may or may not get the special level of care that we give to wedding projects since we know it's a very important day.

Just tell them it's for your wedding. If the price is out of your budget, ask if they are at all flexible or what you can do to make the product/service less expensive without sacrificing too much. These vendors WANT to help you have a perfect day. And trying to be sneaky will just make you look dumb and piss them off.
