today is where your book begins; yelena belova series announcement
After releasing the rest of the Widows from Dreykov’s control, it was time for Yelena to find out what life has in storage for her. Moving back to Ohio, to the place where she had once spent the happiest days of her life, she decided to take back control of her own life and decisions. Fulfilling a long-lived dream of owning a dog and moving in to a block of flats was definitely a good start, but what else does an ex-assassin come up with on her free-time?
This series is about all the things Yelena tries out after settling down into the ‘real world’ and finding a new friend; you. The series will consists of short drabbles and longer one-shots.
I’m respecting the canon and keeping Yelena’s asexuality, so the series will be free from NSFW-content; but instead, there will be tons of fluff!
I hope you all enjoy!
yelena would definitely want to get a nose piercing in her new life

This is the first piece of clothing I’ve ever bought for myself. It has a lot of pockets. I use them all the time, and I made some of my own modifications.

“Even if I have big accomplishments, they’re very minor to me. It’s just that I have more to do. I guess that’s what makes you not be too full of yourself. So I’m grateful for that quality, but there are also times where it’s important to take in the moment and be like: ‘Wow, I did that! I’m proud of myself for that work.’”

Mysterio is the truth.

“…we have a 10-word bio in the program because there are so many people in the show. the 10 words i wrote are, ‘this is for all those whose shoulders i stand on.’ when i sing ‘go the distance’ i think about all the black men who have been enslaved, incarcerated, assassinated - i think about them. there is a hero inside all of them. it’s the most empowering moment i’ve ever had on stage.” - jelani alladin on playing hercules.
I understand where he’s coming from and I understand that the myth of Hercules is popular in the US so people see themselves in it. But I don’t understand why Hercules is never a metaphor for the Greek struggles, like the wars, famine, prosecution, brutality and KKK hunts (especially in the US where we were the “dirty Greeks”) and literal genocide we have survived. To be clear, I am not attacking the actor!! I am commenting on the US-centric view of our myths, where the Greek people get separated from their heritage. If the cast had actual Greeks or Greek-Americans the show would speak for our culture in a deep way. It would give Greeks the chance to combine their heritage with their recent historical narrative on stage. Only a few Americans actually know the recent bloody history of Greece while praising our ancient tales.
