whoever made that post about just writing 400 a day i LOVE YOU. i am someone who's capable of decent numbers. when really motivated I can finish a chapter and start a new one, but im not always like that, so it makes me feel like I should do that. But if I go into my doc being like "okay just 400 words" i can easily do like 800 just because I didn't put pressure on myself. sigh.

Housekeepers and Janitors Need Praise As Unsung but Very Much Important
Remember when the NRA told doctors to “stay in their lane” RE gun violence and #thisismylane trended as a result?
One of the tweets I saw was a surgeon who’d taken a picture of her OR, having just finished surgery on a young man who’d been shot. Blood. Everywhere.
This bloke retweeted her, mentioning that he worked as a cleaner in a hospital and had had to clean up stuff like this and worse.
Surgeon replied to him (and went up *greatly* in my estimation) and, despite living in different countries, thanked him for his hard work.
I can’t find the tweets sadly, but hers went something like;
“Without a clean and sterile operating room to work in, my team, our skills and the best medicines in the world are next to useless. You are doing invaluable work, without which my work would be impossible.”
WITHOUT PEOPLE DOING THE CLEANING, SOCIETY WOULD GRIND TO A HALT WITHIN DAYS

This might seem like a silly question: how do you know what you want to write? I could name aspects of things I've read but there's nothing concrete enough to say "yes, this is what i want to tell a story about".
Any good idea, but especially when writing your first story, should be something that really matters to you.
1. Wish fulfillment
You want to indulge all your fantasies and unlikely adventures, so you write about them as a self-insert character or a character type you idolize.
2. Therapy
You have real-life personal issues you can't or don't know how to do anything about, so you give them to a character and help them get through them. This can be anything from a serious issue you live with to basic teen angst.
3. Education
You care very much about a subject and want others to care too, so you write fiction or non-fiction about it in a compelling way that hopefully teaches people to appreciate it. The subject and message can be promoting a deep cause or simply be a love letter to something you enjoy.
4. Representation
You don't see enough stories or characters of a certain type written in a satisfying way or even at all, so you're going to try and amend that. Either there aren't enough stories about dragons written to your liking, or you're tired of seeing the same characters in every story and want someone else in the spotlight for a change.
5. Response
You heard a story that was so dumb and the ending so wrong that you just know you could do better, so you take that idea and rewrite it. Many authors have done this, sometimes as parody but also seriously.
6. Fan fiction
You're still too involved in another's story to think of your own right now but you're also very inspired to create, so you write about the world and characters that are currently on your mind
7. Memoir/Journal
Crafting a story out of thin air may yet sound too daunting, so write about yourself and your experiences, or those of a close family member. Writing about yourself can lend to the "Therapy" aspect as well.
All of these boil down to "write the story you want to read." Because if you want it, you're more likely to actually write it. Many of these motivations can be combined into one story too. Any cool ideas you picked up from other stories or real life, find a way to incorporate them into something you care about.

I've seen this post before but it only just occurred to me that there might be some sort of underlying reason that "places where bears are" and "places where people name stars after bears" overlap.
A: A bite wound. (Wash the wound with soap and water, then cover the area with a bandage. Afterward your character will need medical care from a doctor to make sure that they aren’t going to get rabies or an infected bite area.)
B: A sprained wrist. (Your character should ice the area and avoid activities that cause pain. It’s also important to compress the area with bandages (But not so much that it cuts off circulation!) and keep it elevated.)
C: A stab wound to the stomach. (This is an emergency room visit because abdomens have a lot of vital organs. Just straight to the ER.)
D: A concussion. (A concussion is brain trauma so your character really should be checked out by someone at the ER. Afterward they should take it mentally easy and possibly take pills for pain.)
E: A black eye. (An ice pack on the swollen area should help.)
F: A broken ankle. (Your character will probably need to go to the Doctor to get their leg splinted. After leaving the hospital they’ll need to take it easy on their foot until it’s healed.)

and uh i don’t fucking think ichigo is AWARE how much this thing actually fucks with mizuiro?
keigo is very much a pillar of stability for his friend group, the one normal person whose tragic backstory is his own insecurity and trying to keep his friends from breaking apart
honestly i don’t think i would want keigo to develop his own supernatural power beyond being able to see
his power is being humane as in the fact that he’s a human and the one person entrenched deep in the sensibility and empathy of humanity
everyone else too busy fighting hollows and their own government they FORGET that they’re people before they’re warriors
keigo is just human and he ends up seeing the monsters lurking among humanity that touches mizuiro at nights, the monsters that keep ichigo prisoner in a role of a protector that refuses protection
i don’t think keigo would want that kind of power either, it’s scary, he hates fighting, and he hates what power has done to his good friends, it didn’t corrupt them but damn does it chip away at their humanity bit by bit
maybe keigo just wants to be a home people can come back to
Don’t forget Mizuiro calmly improvising explosives in Fake Karakura Town. Brat looked at the eldritch abomination that was Aizen and blandly offered him an explosion. No grandstanding, just “Oh. Okay. Here, have an explosion. Bye.”
I, too, feel like we really missed out on some really interesting background with this guy.
And Keigo, who is ridiculous but also the only one who seems to realize every main character in his shonen manga class needs a fucking therapist. I still think he makes himself an acceptable target for the others to vent on because to him that’s better than his friends snapping.
Anyway.
Bleach had a ridiculously huge cast but damn they could be interesting people. Kubo had too many toys to play with.
