katherine pursed her lips and then started to pout. how deep has she fallen? it’s embarrassing, really. nonetheless, the former vampire appreciated the blanket draped over her shoulder. if i share my warmth with you, i’m going to get cold, katherine stated, the lie left her lips so swiftly that it sounded like the truth. now tell me, what’s the appeal of a campfire?

under the blanket, bella tucks herself against katherine, interlocks their arms together to share their warmth. she doesn’t watch the woman beside her, instead she keeps her eyes on the fire. the can feel the warmth on her face, but it’s not enough to forgo the blanket, to ignore katherine’s body-heat. “my favorite part is the s’mores.” she finally looks at her, and grins. “it’s all a good time to weasel secrets out of people.”

i haven’t slept at all and i’m about to head to work, but i’m thinking about miss bella and her depression. she really did get raised in a house where her mom didn’t want to be a mom and became a caretaker, and then moved in with charlie. who she still tried to take care of, but who took care of bella instead. but she didn’t see that because she’s not used to a parent being a parent. and then she met edward who took care of her. and for once she felt like she was getting taken care of. and then he left. and bella’s just heartbroken like she wasn’t good enough, like maybe she should have tried harder. like maybe if she tried harder with renee, her mother wouldn’t have transformed her room into a yoga study or whatever. she sees how much better things are with charlie. and the nightmares are nightmares about james, and not edward.
