"Don't use Libby because it costs libraries too much, pirate instead" is such a weird, anti-patron, anti-author take that somehow manages to also be anti-library, in my professional librarian-ass opinion.

It's well documented that pirating books negatively affects authors directly* in a way that pirating movies or TV shows doesn't affect actors or writers, so I will likely always be anti-book piracy unless there's absolutely, positively no other option (i.e. the book simply doesn't exist outside of online archives at all, or in a particular language).

Also, yeah, Libby and Hoopla licenses are really expensive, but libraries buy them SO THAT PATRONS CAN USE THEM. If you're gonna be pissed at anybody about this shitty state of affairs, be pissed at publishing companies and continue to use Libby or Hoopla at your library so we can continue to justify having it to our funding bodies.

One of the best ways to support your library having services you like is to USE THOSE SERVICES. Yes, even if they are expensive.

Please, PLEASE use Libby. OverDrive. Hoopla. CloudLibrary. Kanopy. Flipster. Freegal. Transparent Language. Mango. Jstor. Your library would not offer it if they could not afford it, and we afford things by reporting the number of people who use that service, so if you don't use the service we can't afford it. It's a cycle. Keep it going, keep using it, and we'll keep providing because we'll be able to justify the cost to the bean counters in government.

“Hey look, a dinglehopper!” Jeongguk speaks the words with vigor, his teeth clasping to his lips just as Taehyung’s hand clashes with the skin of his arm and your eyes dart to the side, brows furrowed just so. 

“What the hell is a dinglehopper? That’s a fork, Guk.” Your eyes scan with concern, the plasticked utensil haphazardly tossed to the waves unaccompanied by anything that looks like it could resemble a ‘dinglehopper’. Your fingers poke at the four pronged offense, afflicted by the thought of the artificial waste making haste to the fin of an unsuspecting fish in its trek to the depths of the sea.  “I swear, some people are just so careless.” 

“Yeah, speaking of,” Taehyung’s throat clears for the argument of ages, no more likely to appeal to the stubborn streak of your peaked interest than the days prior or the ones to follow. “Don’t you think we should oh…I don’t know…not be here? If your dad finds out it’s not gonna be pretty.” 

“If my dad finds out I’ll know you told him and it won’t be pretty for you.” You huff, words stringed in a half daze, your arms straining to push you just over the cut of land that secures you from prying eyes and the threat that proves nothing but fantastical since first uttered through your ears like a mantra. 

“It looks pretty gloomy today, he’s probably not coming.”

Water slushed around in the tub as Yoongi picked up some more bubbles and blew them into the air, a gummy smile plastered itself all over your daughter's face and he couldn't help but smile. God, he was so lucky to have you in his life as well as the little angel the two of you had created together. It was hard to believe that she was already three weeks old, it felt like just yesterday that the two of you took the test and found out you were going to be expecting.

"Who's the cutest little baby in the world?" He cooed, his voice slightly higher which was something he'd always teased Namjoon for but now couldn't help but do whenever it came to his own child.

"You are! Yes, you are, yes you are," He cooed as he blew some more bubbles off his hand and watched as they rained down all over your child. All of the worries that Yoongi had experienced before your daughter was born had melted away the second he held her tiny body in his hands. Sure, he was still scared of everything that came with being a parent but some part of him knew that he had this all under control. That no matter what happened he was doing a good job and he was going to be a good dad.
