this pride, I’d like to remind everyone how thoroughly the aspec community was obliterated on here. I don’t think I’ll ever get over the whiplash of going from literally creating a tumblr to learn more about aspec identities and being so excited to finally have a place where I wasn’t broken—to watching the lgbt community and surrounding ‘allies’ utterly destroy what we had, watching blogs delete or quietly re-closet themselves, and being afraid to put anything regarding asexuality or aromanticism in my bio. I started blocking people once I started having nightmares

it’s still so hard to get people to take aphobia seriously, and ‘aphobe’ is constantly treated like a joke. I get anxious about mentioning my qpp in anything, I’ve seen how far people will go to tell someone their relationship is fake or ‘cringe’. sometimes it seems like noone remembers what it was like before, when we weren’t afraid. that we came looking for acceptance, and were thrown out on our asses for being largely neurodivergent.

I’m so glad we’re rebuilding, but I’ll never forget what that felt like. what it feels like

That's the problem. That's what we think we're paying for. What we get is a bureaucrat who knows that statistically he'll never have to do shit, so he makes that in a year by occasionally helping teachers shake kids down for weed or whatever. They will never help you in a firefight.

I found this out a few years back, that during the Columbine High School Massacre, all the police and SWAT teams that responded refused to enter the school “for fear of the safety of the officers” for so long, some of the victims died from their injuries while waiting rescue, which is even worse when you consider the two assholes killed themselves less than an hour into their attack, and the first police units entered the school around 3 hours after the whole disaster began.

I honestly believe police unions should be abolished, perhaps losing that safety blanket will force these guys to actually do their jobs, or at the very least quit once they realize they actually need to risk their lives to protect the people they’re supposed to.

I wanted to add this as a comment, that the Pulse nightclub massacre had a similar situation of gross misconduct of the police officers charged with responding to the threat

This article goes on to explain that the police responders stood outside the club and arrested “every single victim there and held them for 10 to 12 hours” and that the events started around 2am, and it took police until 5am to stop the shooter after they crashed an armored truck through the fucking wall and shot him.

We live in a society in which everything is sexualized, and yet heterosexuality is somehow decoupled from the sex part of it.

I think some people are confused by Agrippa’s conception of the division between the mind and the soul.

Basically, Agrippa conceives of the stars as the divine engine that drives the world. If the world is a vast clock, the stars are the gears that make it all tick. If clockwork is pure mathematics instantiated in physical objects, which tell the time the stars are the divine will manifested as these celestial bodies which create the world.

Agrippa sees the soul as the pure forces that make up you, its the thing you refer to when you say “you.“

He sees the soul as the raw sensory data that gets fed to the soul. The mind is the medium through which the physical world must pass to reach the soul.

The Polish border guards love throwing people, especially pregnant women, over the barbed wire. We can only wonder how many people lay dead and decaying in that once beautiful forest.

Also: it’s catastrophic for the environment of the Białowieski National Park. Many endangered species, such as lynxes and wisents (European bisons), cannot travel because of the wall. Many animals have been found dead, their maimed bodies hanging over the wired fence.

Hi, a Polish citizen here. This is real. There are people dying in the forest. They have been since August. Kids drinking water from puddles, freezing at nights. Many people have been helping, locals and from all around Poland, sending things like tents and winter clothes, donating. Many towns wanted to welcome the refugees, offered to give them shelter but the gov didn’t agree! Voluteers, medics, they worked to the point of exhaustion to save people who tried to cross the border and hid in the forest, risking trials as it has been made illegal to enter the zone! The whole region has been put under special law (very similar to martial law), no journalists are allowed entry, the locals have their rights limited. This is a racism-fuelled humanitarial crisis the world has forgotten about.

At the same time the most precious piece of nature in this part of the world is being destroyed. Białowieża forest is priceless. It’s the very last European lowland forest, a natural wonder which has been here since the last ice age! We fought like crazy to save it from illegal logging in 2017/18, now it’s being run over by the military and heavy equippment. Human rights and environmental groups have been fighting against building this damn wall but to no avail.

Don’t let the smooth talk about helping the war refugees from Ukraine fool you. What the Polish government has been doing is DESPICABLE. You know what? They’ve done little to help the Ukrainians too. It is the Polish society, the people, who are doing all the work!

While I am a fan of both of these kinds, I feel like limiting all available variety of hand kisses to only these two is missing quite a lot.

- “you’re only semi-lucid and are sort of reaching for my face and for various reasons I shouldn’t kiss YOUR face, but your hand is right here and I still need to convey affection”

- “your hand is the only part of you with only minor injuries and the doctor [healer, whatever] is right there and will get mad at me if I move you”

- “you were going to play-hit me but I’m actually much faster in the reflexes than you and also my catching your hand and kissing it is part of our game”

- “you just touched my face so your palm is right there” 

- “I’m extremely happy about something and this felt like the best spontaneous action, what am I, an expert on motivations?” 

- “this is YOUR hand, so it is particularly delightful to me” 

- “we were cuddling and holding hands and I felt like it” 

- “I was just struck by the overwhelming delight I feel at your existence and your hand was the most conveniently positioned thing to kiss in response to this thought process”

You truly never forget a genuinely kind hearted teacher. When I was in 4th grade my mom went into deep depression for a while and basically had no energy to do my hair anymore aside from brushing it and since it was really long it’d be a knotted mess by the end of the day and my teacher took note and one day asked if I’d like for her to start doing my hair every morning and I happily agreed. From then on while all my classmates had breakfast I’d go into class early and she’d do my hair any way I wanted. She even took a curling iron to curl it for me and got me the prettiest butterfly shaped hair clips because she knew I loved butterflies. Mrs Templeton I love you and still think about you 14 years later…
