Hello, so I was planning on doing a comic following your story. Many of the characters are probably going to be different, so that people who are not in the VLD fandom can understand. I was planning on doing The Marks We Make, or, SUADWM. Of course, I will add credits to you. I was just making sure you know! It might take some time for the comic to come out though. Thank you! If I’m reading this correctly… I don’t give you permission to do that. You want to take MY story, and rewrite it with different characters, and possibly changing their genders? That’s not doing a comic of my fic. That’s taking my idea, my story, and inserting different characters in it to make it your own.
You are more than welcome to do Klance comics based on my klance fic with credits to said fic. You do not have my permission to take my story and reinvent it to advertise as your own. The Marks We Make has a lot of personal memories and stories from MY college experience. Taking that is not just stealing my fic, you’re stealing my memories, my experiences, and my life.
If you want to do a vld klance comic, go for it! If you want to do something original… then do something original. Because what you described isn’t doing a comic based on my fic. It’s stealing my story for your own characters. It’s turning my fanfic into your “original” work. You do not have my permission to do that. Don’t take my life as inspiration. Use your own.
(Also, you will find that people outside a fandom can still understand fics/comics/art without having a specific attachment to those characters. The question is not a matter of helping more people understand. It’s a question of doing fanart or original art. And if you want to do original art, write an original story.)
