What’s your eye color?

Brown

Any advice on building connections in the writing world? I’ve been published a couple times in anthologies and magazines but that didn’t require any bonding or relationship forming and I’m wondering how to make friends in the business if you can’t afford to go to conferences.

Have you got any tips on blogging? I currently have a blog for writing about circus, but I’m not sure to lack of interaction is because I’m not writing very well or because there isn’t much interest in the topic

Avatar

It could be a bit of both.

When it comes to blogging, check out these 2 blog posts I created on that very topic:

Also, do some research and learn a bit about SEO and how you can use it to get your blog posts seen. I talk a bit about it in these posts but more in-depth research will help

Quick SEO Tips:

- Use more white space with smaller paragraphs

- Use a focus keyword in: the title, at least one H2 subheading, throughout the post SPARINGLY, and as alt. attributes in the images

- Bold/italicize important one-liners

Hope this help :)

Hey Bella! I know your current manuscript has multiple POVs, and I also want to write a book with multiple POVs. So I was wondering if you had any tips on how to outline a book like that. Thanks so much!

Oh hell yes I do! I’m actually going to film a video on this very topic, so sit tight and you’ll have more details.

But these are a few tips to get you started:

You have to plan it all together. Don’t try to only outline one POV in its entirety and then move on to the next because each timeline should affect others.

So, for example, there are events that happen in my WIP to certain characters as a direct result of something another did hundreds of miles away (even though they’ve never met).

Which made it impossible to only outline 1 POV at a time because I had to know the details of what the other person did in their POV.

So what I did is make a bullet list of every event that happens within each “chapter” and just planned it out that way.

Make sure you have a distinct timeline and that you never mess it up. Basically, you can’t have 1 POV be Saturday and the next chapter be another POV 2 weeks before that Saturday. It’ll confuse the readers.

So have a very, very clear timeline. I even dated my chapters in the outline to make sure nothing overlapped in a confusing way.

You also have to make sure each character has their own specific arc within their own part of the story. This can be tricky but go through each person’s timeline and determine their distinct moments of growth, etc.

I hope this helps. Again, I’ll be filming a video on this topic very soon and will have a LOT more details of what I did specifically.

Overall, you have to find what works best for you. I had a lot of trial and error before I lined up my outline the right way lol
