I was reading a religious poetry book that's almost 60 years old and let me tell you the line "but Abel's blood continued to scream up at heaven" as the last line in a poem about people getting brutally murdered for peacefully protesting against a terrible dictator had me shook
I don't think I'll ever understand why people think it's so horrible to help someone "only out of pity"
Because by "pity" they always mean just being a normal human being and therefore inherently caring about other people
How is that bad?? 'You're a person and therefore I don't want to see you suffer' is somehow a horrible reason to want to help someone?? What mental gymnastics are you doing to come to that conclusion ?
