[ veneritia ; writeblr re-introduction ]

Hello everyone! My name’s Maddie and I used to post as @anomaly00.  I’ve been on writeblr for a few years and have grown and changed a lot since I first started, which is why I’m starting over on a new blog! The old blog will still be up as an archive, but this will my primary blog and will still be writeblr-centric, just like the old one. The only difference is that I’m hoping this one will stay more organized and my original content more true to how they currently are, instead of it being a hodge podge of outdated information.

[ about me ]

18. She/Her. Filipino. consistently intp. virgo. tired university student. My love for learning history stems from my mom making me watch period dramas with her and constantly having me explain timeline of events (i’m far from a history buff though). I mostly write fantasy stories and I love worldbuilding. I am very into villainess manhuas and I will absolutely talk your ears off if you ask me about them.
One of my dreams is to have one of my wips printed with a dedication to my bff about how I did manage to finish this story before I was 90.

[ main wips ]

When Comes the Dawn |  Fenice vi Aetier, a ‘soulless’ princess and the estranged daughter of the emperor, ignites a dangerous successsion game between her and her half-brother, where losing means death and winning means an empire. But when the remnants of her father’s war rears its head, Fenice must ensure her victory — or else lose far more than just her head.
genre; na, high fantasy, court intrigue
The Stars do not Bind Us |  Six, thirteen years old and born as the prophesized her, embarks on a quest where her victory is as assured as her death. Accompanying her is a strange man in the woods and the five voices inside her head.
genre; fantasy/adventure novella

『 WRITEBLR RE-INTRO 』

about ➟

hey, what's up!! I'm andie, 18. Ive just moved my writeblr, which I've had since 2019, onto a new account so that it could finally be my main blog. I'm bi and nonbinary, use they/them pronouns, and mostly hang out on the wtw discord bc I have terrible anxiety about most things.

writing ➟

When a young man gets trapped in a place he once thought to be little more than fantasy, he's forced to confront his past while fighting for his life.
aka, creepy haunted woods try to kill man whilst also forcing him to face past trauma.

+ a bunch of other stuff (both original and fanfic) that im not rly actively working on rn, but might at some point.

[wctd noncanonical scene - from 'i just wanna write soft things.docx]

THE NIGHT IS OLD WHEN NIKE SLIPS BETWEEN THE SHEETS, his weight slowly dipping the left side of the bed as he tries to slowly ease himself down without disturbing his sleeping wife. The gesture was out of courtesy than any need to be discreet. Nike learned, after their first week of marriage, that Fenice was ever the light sleeper.

Hi!!! I’m Grubdog (or Gen if you prefer), a college student who really likes to write! I also like drawing and video games. Particularly Pikmin, which has been my special interest sense I was eleven. I will mention fanish works now and again, but as I also have a pikmin blog (@gay-bulborb) I’ll keep this mostly to original stuff.

I have a Carrd which hosts a bunch of links to other places I can be found, including my Ao3!

I mostly like to write/read stuff more so on the fantasy side of things! Wings of Fire and Eragon in particular are some of my favorites.

I wholeheartedly welcome critiques! It helps me get better! (Spelling in particular is a big weakness of mine, at least that I’ve noticed.)

↳ a character study — QING JIEXI

ft. low quality graphics & writing because i spent all my braincells on the actual draft.

QING JIEXI, the High Empress of the kingdom of Fuxin. A talented young ruler, she loves her sister more than anything else in the world. Her ascension to the throne was by no means something she had asked for, but she has done her best to be worthy of the role.
[ author notes: she is very worthy. someone take her away from me and give her a nice long holiday on a beach far away. ]

how to make a story file

As I am preparing for Camp NaNo*, I have been working on my story file. It occurred to me this might not be common or popular practice. “Story File” is a name I gave it and maybe some of y’all have a different name with the same contents.

My Story File contains everything about my story that doesn’t go in the outline.

It’s broken up into major categories and specific templates. So without further ado, here is how I structure my Story File.

Intro

  • Title
  • Logline
  • Synopsis
  • Genre
  • Estimated Total Length (word count)
  • Draft Length Goal (word count)
  • Character Bank
  • Main characters and brief, one-sentence descriptions with ages

Themes and Character Development

  • Central Question
  • The Yes/No question that is being asked through the whole story
  • Should have objective qualities, rather than subjective
  • i.e. “Will they fall in love?” (subjective) vs. “Will they leave their partners and become a couple?” (objective)
  • Thematic Questions
  • These are the internal conflict questions that reside in your character(s) and your story
  • ex. “Can there really be a successful government?”
  • ex. “Does grief excuse bad actions?”
  • Themes at a Glance
  • Words or phrases that relate to the themes of the story
  • ex. person vs. nature
  • ex. isolation
  • ex. grief
  • ex. first love
  • Motivation / Stasis State / Final State
  • for each main character, you should write a sentence or two pertaining to these three things
  • Motivation: What is the drive behind this character and their past, present, and future actions? What part of their background makes them the way that they are? What are they looking for? What do they want out of this/a situation?
  • Stasis State: What are they like before the inciting incident? What problems and questions do they have?
  • Final State: What has changed about them and their outlook? What questions have they resolved? What has happened to their internal conflict?
  • Relationships
  • I usually make a little web of the MCs and their relationship to one another. One for the stasis and one for final.
  • Stasis: How do these characters see each other? How do they act toward the other? (All before the inciting incident)
  • Final: How do these characters see each other now? How has their idea of one another shifted?
  • Even if a character dies before the end, include the most recent relationship status in the Final web.
  • ex. this is how I organize it, using the Draw feature of Google Docs

Character Bank

This is just a very preliminary character bank. If you prefer a more in-depth one, check out my 6 Box Method.

Per (relevant/important) character:

  • Name
  • Nickname/preferred name
  • Age
  • Field/Occupation
  • Physical Description
  • Personality
  • Personal History
  • Education/Occupation History
  • Extra Notes:

Worldbuilding Bank

(Check out my worldbuilding posts on Categories Pt. 1 and 2 for better context)
  • Seasons and Climate
  • Languages
  • Other Cultural Pockets
  • Folklore and Legends
  • Fine Arts
  • Dress and Modesty
  • Classes
  • Jobs
  • Currency and Economics
  • Shopping
  • Agriculture and Livestock
  • Imports and Exports
  • Literature, Pop Culture, and Entertainment
  • Food and Water
  • Holidays and Festivals
  • Family and Parenting
  • Relationships
  • Housing

  • Health and Medicine
  • Technology and Communication
  • Death
  • Transportation
  • Plants, Animals, and Human-environment Interaction
  • Education
  • Beauty Standards
  • Gender and Sexuality

—————————

I hope this helps y’all and supplements what you’re probably already doing. I know it’s helped me tons to have everything in a central place.

Best of luck!

The doc itself is under my Drive email because the creator wanted to keep theirs private.

Unholy Holy Things Character Aesthetics || Sionri an Rennach

If someone were to ask Hadriel why he dislikes Prince Sionri so much, Hadriel would not be able to explain it. Not for lack of reasons, though. There are many reasons why Hadriel might dislike Sionri.
Everything about Sionri is misaligned. He’s all jagged lines, obtuse angles, obfuscation and obstruction. His words are that of a perfect gentleman, and yet all of Valeros knows about the whoring, gambling drunkard Caerr Mara calls its future king. He acts as though the whole world loves him, but plays the fool at every turn. The simple truth of it is that Sionri is everything Hadriel was raised not to be.
The problem is that those aren’t the reasons. Sure, the man is a scoundrel, a wastrel, and an all-around waste of breath, but Hadriel has known many people like that, and Sionri is not like them. Everything is a game to Sionri— he thinks that despite all his faults, despite the fact that nobody else is playing his thrice-cursed games, he’ll be the last one laughing in the end.
Hadriel dislikes Sionri because he gets the distinct sense that Sionri is right. How, exactly, do you explain that?

hey! i’m kinda new to the writeblr scene but i thought i should at least dip my toes in here for a bit! i’m knock, 22, am vietnamese-australian, and use she/her pronouns.

i’ll include a super brief summary of my WIPs under the read more, but extra information can be found on my pinned post! my projects are either original works or (marvel) fics. i’m obsessed with themes of mortality / immortality, deities, and destiny. representation and diverse stories and voices are important to my writing and what i read, so feel free to block me if you don’t feel the same.

i would love to find some new people and WIPs to get interested in, so feel free to follow me / interact with this post and i’ll check you out!!

i haven’t been properly active on writeblr for a few months, so if you’re an active writeblr (particularly if you have high word count goals / general writing goals for the summer) could you please reblog or reply to this post? my feed is dead and i need more writeblr friends!

[ excerpt from wctd ; it's been too long since i gave y'all content so...uh...enjoy?]

“Why?” He barked. “Is it not obvious why?”

“I believe I do not know what you are talking about.”

“You are a harbinger of doom!” Caelcinius’ chair screeched as he stood, robes flaring around him. “An omen of destruction. Unnatural. An abomination!”

Open WBW Question!

What is one worldbuilding factoid that you came up with on the fly (no research or anything) that you like or find fascinating? It doesn’t have to have any significance in the actual plot.

Oooh rad question! can I say all of them? lmao most of my world building stuff is entirely on the fly hehe

 but uh yeah mmmmaybe. um.

Actually! Yeah ok, the newest addition to this is that the Fair Folk are sort of de facto guardians of the mist between worlds? after the dragons were trapped, Fair Folk are the only sapient beings that can cross through the Mist outside the gateways without being damaged by it (I mean also the erinty, but that’s a different piece of world building altogether) so some of the “kinder” ones will make sure that no mortals attempt to cross where there isn’t a stable gateway.

Some of them offer ways across, but there’s always a price. Most of them take no notice of mortals, though.

Nice!!! Fair folk lore is always fascinating
