Yesterday, I accidentally spilled coffee on the guy my parents are pushing on me. He got so angry he shoved me; I dropped the pot and hit my head on the floor. I was kept at the hospital overnight. He told my mother I fell and she fully believes him. He raises his voice a lot, too. I was confined overnight and I now have bruises. Guess this is karma for existing. Wish I had Lin around ala-Adam's Rib. Sometimes escaping through literature will have to do.

Hey, friend, so first of all I’m glad that you came and talked to us about this because it’s important that you talk about it. We both hate that you’re in this situation with our entire hearts and although we know we can’t do much, we want you to know that we’re here and we care about you. 

You deserve more than to be treated this way by anyone and I’m sorry that your mother doesn’t believe you, but you have to do what’s best for you to keep yourself safe and out of harm’s way. I know that you know this already and I know it’s not that simple, and I also know I’m not an expert.

oh hey guess what so like @ourforgottenboleros becca helped me write this song and we did this and I’m sorry for my lame recording but this is about Adam’s Rib a little backstory: we wrote this song way before the actual writing of the story happened. this was entirely an idea, and we ran with it, and this came about. which is funny bc it turned into so many more things (that you may or may not see in the future who knows), but we wrote the special things backwards. this was before we had any metaphors or concepts in our head and that’s funny to me bc we didn’t know exactly what would happen with Adam’s Rib. we just knew the endgame. this was the endgame. the story unfolded from there. 

so yeah dudes that’s it like lyrics under the cut bc yeah

OKAY 

so the way we’d recommend reading it (and feel free to disagree this is just our personal preference) would be in the following order:

- part one
- part two
- 12 days (in the order posted)
- part three
- epilogue

as a domestic abuse survivor, it's INCREDIBLY rare for me to find fics that include it that doesn't come off as cheesy or feel like that struggle is being used for the #angst factor. like, reading it was incredibly difficult for me cause it was just so... incredibly well written. i had to put it down a few times to like, calm down, but it was so good regardless. and i'm still kinda crying because damn... the happy ending was a nice lil escapism factor.

i’m gonna not yell because i want you to know how absolutely genuine i’m being when i say this message means the world to us. first of all, we’re both crazy proud of you for sharing your story with us and also for having the strength and courage to survive a situation like that–like we have an insane amount of respect for you so just know that right off the bat.

also, we just want to say thank you??? for taking the time to come tell us this??? we’re honestly so floored and so honored that you’d say all this like i’m speechless i don’t know how to thank you but THANK YOU.

Omg so Adams Rib was amazing. I finished it a few days ago (after desperately refreshing the Lin x reader tag every six hours in case you'd updated) and I just wanted to say as someone who is a recovering alcoholic it was super well done and really accurate and good and I'm super glad I read it. Honestly I didn't think WYCH could be beat, but you did it! Can't wait for the next one!

So we've been staring at this ask for like, days now because

1. we honestly cannot believe you think this?? like it's so shocking for us to even dare to think that we did this justice like we were honestly afraid that we might ruin it entirely

2. we've been crying for days bc of this like legitimate tears oh my god

how do you decide who writes what scene? I'm asking because I tried to collab with someone and we couldn't decide who would be better at writing other things

WHAT A GOOD QUESTION HOLY MOLY

um honestly, a lot of it just had to do with moments when the other was just like “hey dude i’m legitimately stuck and i don’t know where this is going anymore.” we really didn’t decide who writes what based on our strengths and weakenesses. i think we pretty much just trusted each other to write what the other believed was relevant and essential to the plot.

like sometimes, we just passed the torch to each other mid-scene/mid-conversation because we didn’t really know how to continue. basically we had the meat of the plot figured out before we ever started writing and then just kept bouncing it back and forth between us until there was a Thing. stuff changed as we went of course but like we just knew the other had it handled when we passed it off.

it also helps to write with someone that shares the same brain lmao

fun fact: we genuinely can’t remember who wrote what at this point. 

also fun fact: we passed off the writing to each other mid scene and mid dialogue constantly for AR. it’s a miracle that anything has any sort of fluency.

also oh my goodness dude if we had done another 12 days type deal this fic would literally be like 130k… no joke. WE JUST WANTED TO SAVE YOU FROM HAVING TO DEAL WITH THAT. THE FACT THAT THE FIC ALONE WAS OVER 90K WAS BAD ENOUGH.

Do you guys even physically know each other? Or all digital correspondance? How do you capture such lengthly yet swift metaphors which stretch over chapters and decide on plot and characters? Howww😍
