[ before the headlights . sixers team bus crash of 2018 ]

" this is a disaster—and the league should be relieved it wasn't a disaster draft. "

The Philadelphia 76ers' season opener against the Boston Celtics has been suspended in light of a bus crash Tuesday afternoon, the NBA announced in a press statement.
The crash occured at Atlantic Avenue around 11am according to Boston Police Department officers, nine hours before the game was set to take place.
Witnesses report the 76ers' team bus swerving into a storefront while en route to TD Garden.
All members of the roster, as well as five members of the coaching staff, sustained injuries as a result of the crash. Seven players were transported to a nearby local hospital.
Multiple sources identified the players as stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, starters Robert Covington, Markelle Fultz, and Dario Šarić, as well as TJ McConnell and JJ Redick.
The team bus driver has been taken in by local authorities for questioning.

doomed by the narrative but not to death. doomed to survive. doomed to stay alive inside the story. doomed to never escape the narrative, not even through death. you are allowed no exit. there is no way out for you and there never was. you couldn’t die if you wanted to. the narrative has a hold on you and it won’t let go. death is too sweet a doom for you. the story has something much worse in mind. there is no way out.

everyone else log off I need to be alone with this person

One thing I aaabsolutely love is the beginnings of recovery after a difficult illness (or injury or starvation or whatever that's taken a heavy toll on the whumpee's body), where they're no longer really sick as such, but they're still just absolutely out of strength to the point that they're hardly even able to walk across the room and still have to spend most of their time in bed, probably still sleeping a lot. Just that part where they're come out on the other side of the worst of it, but now it's a slow road to regaining the strength they've lost

SAME ANON

  • when the simplest task, like holding a cup of water to their lips, is so taxing that someone else has to help them do it
  • because they’re so thin/worn down, they’re constantly cold to the bone, too weak to keep themselves warm even when dressed in warm clothing or covered in blankets
  • consequently, they spend most of their time in bed trying to get warm enough
  • they desperately need nourishment but they can only manage a few bites of dinner or sips of soup at a time
  • old clothes that used to fit perfectly now hanging loosely on their gaunt frame
  • losing focus during the simplest conversations
  • falling asleep mid-conversation
  • dropping very small objects because their hands are so unsteady
  • even a gentle breeze sends goosebumps skittering across their skin
  • their body constantly aches, even when laying in a comfortable bed
  • being covered in multiple soft blankets which they clutch to their chin
  • caretaker gently massages the rest of their body to try and get the blood flowing and get them healing faster
