But thanks to human biology, and the way we store and burn (brown) fat in response to our environment, in order to keep warm, 60F / 15.5C in January feels a lot different than 60F / 15.5C in July.

I gave it some thought, and ultimately made my vote based on what I would be wearing if there was a straight week of that temperature, regardless of time of year.

in light of police across the country cracking down on pro palestine protests with brutal force, it feels like a great time to remind everyone to shut the fuck up around cops. don't make small talk, dont act friendly, don't fucking engage with them!! if you are arrested DO NOT speak without a lawyer present. protest organizers, get into contact with local pro bono lawyers who can be there for your arrested comrades. no matter what, if cops are there, shut the fuck up unless you are actively doing a protest chant. dont tell cops why you were there, dont tell them if you're affiliated with the school you may be protesting at, dont tell them if you came there with anyone, dont tell them anything!!!

When I was younger and researching the autism diagnosis criteria and symptoms, I thought “oh I couldn’t POSSIBLY be autistic.” Because when I read “takes everything literally” I thought it literally meant EVERYTHING and I was like “I don’t take EVERYTHING literally, just most things!” And I just realized the other day that it didn’t actually mean EVERYTHING and that was an overstatement.

any medical diagnostic you will ever undergo does not mean "always 100% Every Time Ever you have this problem". And it sucks because they will phrase it in a way that SOUNDS like 100% Every Time including on the testing for being a person who has trouble with how specific phrasing is supposed to be.

literally the example I always use is I spent way longer without glasses then I should have because the eyesight chart diagnostic is "identify the letter", so I went 'ok the point of this is to do good identifying letters'. Then i realized

they want to know if I can see. Not if I can identify that a blurry shape is an A because of its unique outline.

So i started qualifying my answers with "blurry". Blurry A, Blurry Y, Blurry Z. Now I have glasses.

they do not make this clear. I do not know why. But you can more or less apply this to any medical diagnostic, and if it's a written diagnostic if your answer is 'sometimes' and the only answers are 'yes or no' you put Yes.

Do I have trouble getting out of bed? Sometimes, yes. So the answer is Yes.

Regrettably tests are made for and by non-autistic people and aimed at non-autistic caregivers and medical experts, which isnt how it should be, and makes it one more complicated thing to navigate. World a hell.

Also, if you're filling out Disability paperwork, you're supposed to answer it for your worst days, and without accommodations.

My shoes are typically in an entirely different part of the house than my socks. Unless I want to carry my socks to where my shoes are before putting both of them on, both socks first makes the most sense.

With the rise of antisemitism, and one of my favorite things about my Muslim faith being zakat(prescribed charity giving), what are some charities you would like me to give to in these trying times?

I've seen plenty of places to donate to help Palestinians, but I haven't seen anything to help any of you Jews that are facing antisemitism as backlash to all of this.

Forgive me if it has passed, but I know it's around Passover(I believe that's the holiday going on right around now?) And I'm sure there are Synagogues or Jewish charities that could use some donations.(at least I think. I know that Churches and Christian charities take donations around Christmas and Easter.)

I'd truly like to help all who are affected by this war. Whether it be Isreali Jews in Isreal, or diaspora Jews(I think that's the term? What I mean is, Jews who do not live in Isreal) who are struggling with increased antisemitism.

No charity is too niche, though I may not be able to donate to all of them, as I am on SSDI(a form of disability) so it's not like I have hundreds or thousands to throw around. But I know that anything can help.

Ive only seen a master list of orgs that actually do work for Israelis/Palestinians, nothing for queer jews so idk, but ill def share if I come across (either of them!)

On it! This is @screamingfromuz's list, which includes suggestions for all sides affected by the war. The only groups I didn't see listed specifically are Druze and the Thai workers who got caught in the middle.

For diaspora Jewry, there are several synagogues who are raising funds for building repairs after vandalism, if you're looking for something on topic. If it's more general, there are a ton of great Jewish non-profits that could always use help. One example is HIAS (Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society) was originally founded to help Jewish refugees, but over the years has expanded its mission to include refugees from all backgrounds. Mazon is another great organization fighting hunger all over the world.

Honestly if there's anything super specific you're looking for, I'd be happy to make a recommendation or ask around.

If anyone in the Chicagoland area sees this, a friend's service dog prospect is in need of immediate boarding from tomorrow until May 6. Winnie is about 40 pounds and is not dog-reactive at all, but the person caring for her was hospitalized and so my buddy is looking for a short term emergency foster!

I'm available to help with any transportation (you wouldn't need to drive her anywhere!) and compensation+coverage for food/medical/etc. would be involved. You wouldn't need to pay for her stuff, just make sure she has a place to stay and walk her and call me if she needs to go to the vet.
