Bob looked up to see Nat in front of him with a little smirk painted on her lips. He'd been spending the last twenty minutes trying to act normal, something he forgot how to do after Anna kissed him in the kitchen. Because it wasn't just a kiss, it was everything. It felt like she really wanted him.

"Thank you for what?" he asked cautiously.

Nat laughed heartily like he'd just told a very amusing joke. "For pushing you and Anna together. Bradley told me the situation, and that woman was jealous of me touching you. Her face was all pinched, and her lips were pressed into a tight line. Jealous. She wants you. And my god, she's hot. What the fuck do they do at San Diego State? Only interview you if you've got your PhD and a modeling contract?"

Three steps forward, two steps back with Anna. At least it’s moving?

Bradley spent an hour bundling up all of his letters to your students, getting them ready to be sent back to California. Sure, he wanted to impress you, but he also couldn't deny that he was attached to hearing from Oliver, Violet, Jayden and everyone else. And according to you, they were just as happy to hear from him.

Without giving it a second thought, Bradley went all in with your personal email address. An account where he assumed you could say and send anything you wanted to. One that nobody else was monitoring. His thoughts strayed constantly over the past few hours to what that might mean. What did you deem too personal for your school account?

You told him you were single, and you made it seem like you were into him. You said he gave you butterflies, and now he desperately wanted to see this thing through. When he closed his eyes, he could picture the photos of your smiling face, and he felt a little dizzy. He wanted you to tell him everything. He wanted you to wait for him so he could take you on a date. Or several. He wanted to know what your lips tasted like.

Gosh, I adore them. I, too, giggle every time they read each other’s emails.

The kiddos are so adorbs. I’m gonna guess and say that they’ll meet Lt. Bradshaw eventually. But I wonder if he’d make a it a surprise for teacher or if he’d tell teacher and then plan to surprise the kids with her. Ahhhhhhhh….

Love this. And honestly, don’t worry about wrapping up the story quickly. It’s your story, you tell it how you want. That said, I always found that wrapping up stories quickly, or with a gap between the last chapter and the one before, often leaves more space for vignettes. Little windows into their lives of what happened between or shortly after.

I consider the latter, leaving a time gap between final and second to final chapter, a speciality of mine and one of my favorite ways to “finish” my stories. I can use the last chapter almost like a summary while conveying that my characters have indeed lived a long and happy life (I’m a sucker for happy endings’. And like I said, it leaves space for exploration, especially whenever I get an idea where I know it would fit a specific story rather than build an entirely new world, if that makes sense.

Thank you for sharing your stories with us. Wondering what’s in store next. But don’t feel pressured into writing fast.
