Any tips on expanding a slasher oc if that makes sense, like I have one and I’m just like “Hm what now?” 💀

the development of a character is deceptively challenging and it really depends on how far you've gotten with this oc. as with every story, you have to set a time and location for this character, and because this is a slasher oc, you may want to have the setting correspond with the theme of the slasher. I'm not sure if you have their personality, quirks, strengths/weaknesses, ect. figured out yet but this will play heavily into how they go about with the killing as well as their motives for becoming a slasher in the first place. you also need to determine what this oc's purpose is: do you just want a funky character to draw or do you plan on hashing out a detailed storyline with more characters? it's important to remember the range of horror icons and "slashers" in general. you can have some dream demon like freddy seeking revenge for his death, but then you can have norman bates who is a motel owner and is coping with trauma as a result of his mother's passing. the duality of slashers, essentially. it's easy to scoop together all the stereotypical slasher stuff and slap it onto an oc and call it a day, but looking at the horror genre, it shows us that slashers can be more than just a masked figure that has a taste for blood. as an aspiring author, I absolutely love talking about character development and helping others with writing or even just making an oc. feel free to ask and I'll be happy to help with whatever I can!

I have that problem but my main oc is based off of my favorite slasher movies and it helped me by figuring out their motives/way of killing ppl first and then doing everything after! :3

OUHHH THAT'S ACTUALLY A RLY GOOD IDEA! I get so caught up in their design, it's probably best to think of their motives and methods first. thank u, I will for sure try that!!
