Lark rolled her eyes as she kept walking. How was she to train someone who was so casual about everything? Irritation ebbed its way to her mood, and her brows furrowed upon hearing her name being called. The second time sent her blood boiling.

Lark promptly stopped and when she heard the other was close enough, she suddenly pivoted and with a quick, fluid movement, she propelled forward towards Sirius.

Much like a viper, her hand struck out and seized his wrist; grappling him to her. Shifting her weight, she moved to flip him over her shoulder in an attempt to pin him on his back.

❝ That you can flirt your way out of a Druskelle ambush? ❞ She snapped, her jaw setting.

When she was on him, his breath caught in his throat. He wasn't as skilled as she was - not nearly as quick in movement or to use his abilities. Sirius knew better but had always had a penchant for mischief. And the fact that he had a hard time controlling his tongue. With his hand at his side, he could do little against her. She was strong, stronger than most females he was used to. Not that he'd ever fought one hand to hand. He also wasn't going to attempt to move and risk losing an appendage he was rather fond of.

Grey-blue eyes focused on the gaze above - his features softened in understanding. Lark wasn't wrong. He would die if he didn't learn from her.. but he was so tired. So tired of rules and regulations - his entire life was spent with his mother screaming. He supposed life was not always meant to be enjoyed.

" I do not, " Sirius began, " I will listen. I will take you seriously. " He took a breath in - would what he said next earn him a punch to the throat, perhaps, but of course, he was always going to risk it,

" You've got to give me a bit more time then -- to be less serious, you know, to flirt with you. "

The glen was beautiful at this hour. Golden sunlight filtering through spring-dressed leaves. Her home was one of her own making, after years in a home of cruelty the young woman found peace among the plants and trees of the forest where she could practice her craft at her own leisure. She spent her days foraging and crafting potions and poultices to take into town, her evenings by the fire tracking the stars and divining futures for the girls who sought her out. It was the easy life she'd prayed for for far too long and so as she navigated her wood only to stumble upon a stranger, her brows furrowed.

Yesika tracked the man easily, bows of trees she'd befriended obscuring her, cool moss dampening the steps of her bare feet. Truly, she was curious. The only visitors she ever received were those who were ill or giggling school girls wishing to know if the boy they liked returned the sentiment. But this visitor was different. An air of frustration lingered about him like a shroud, weighing his shoulders down and cloaking him.

As he sat perched on the fallen tree, she studied his handsome features. What would've brought him to her wood? He didn't seem hurt, nor did he panic the way those with ill family members would. Was he lost perhaps? Blue eyes shimmered with her questions and it would seem the forest grew tired of her hesitance. As she shifted the snap of a twig beneath her foot left her cursing softly. "I'm sorry for intruding." She offered, her voice clear and carrying a hint of embarrassment at getting caught, "Are you hurt?" The question is asked as she steps from her hidden place among the treeline, "Or do you need help?" // @paddyfeet

Eyes searching, he knew he heard something. The trees were thick but not thick enough to hide everything. The sunlight littered through and that's when he saw her. His lips parted, unsure of what someone else would be doing out here. Warm hair - red? There were rarely women with red hair in the palace anymore. Waves of brown and occasionally blonde would find its way in through a bloodline.. but red was uncommon.

" I'm not hurt. " Sirius replied, straightening as he took a step forward. Did he need help? Yes - and no. " I'm -- " What exactly was he doing? Running away? He couldn't tell an absolute stranger that he was abandoning everything he'd ever known. This would simply be a break.. a break to be normal. Before the entire court rained down upon him. He'd be forced to marry, he'd be forced to only smile occasionally... it all felt like a nightmare.

The ground seemed to be guiding his steps, as if it welcomed him in. Did it truly know his heart? The magic in his fingertips stayed but stopped tingling. " I'm taking a walk. " At least he was partly honest. A breeze ruffled his dark, curling hair and he closed his eyes momentarily to enjoy it. Maybe she could help him. " There's a small village close to here, yes? "
