Lmao didn’t Slash shit talk the artist for that new horse site for “tracing” when all she did was lightly reference a few pics?

Like omg Slash and the rest of the staff on aywas are so used to the shitty site art that any breath of realism has them screaming TRACE!!!! And if you’re halfway decent at realism, even without actually using references, I’m sure they can dig up something on google image search that looks enough like what you did for them to act like you did trace it.

And holy god EVERY pet you’ve ever created for someone on the site? I know of no prolific artist on aywas who can list all that. 

Jesus christ I used to think Mauri was cool too, but it turns out she’s as unreasonable and asinine as the rest of the aywas staff. More reason never to go back. 

@quezycoatl Yeppp, and it’s hilarious. I remember that Slash was making a new petsite (don’t know if they are still doing that) and I was watching their art come in. Every single pet was referenced from some image I could find online. But since Slash was paying someone for it and using it on her site it was ok! .-.

And no kidding about the realism thing. A few friends and I were talking and they were saying they were nervous to even draw a dog because there’s probably a picture of a dog somewhere online doing the pose they were drawing. It’s fucking ridiculous.

On top of all of that, I was taught at a prolific art school that referencing is ok and in fact something people should do to help ingrain the anatomy of a person/animal into their brains. If someone asks me for a realistic bear roaring, I’m going to look up “bear roaring” and use that+other bear roaring images to create a realistic piece for them. I am no bearologist (lol) so I can’t say I know the exact facial structure of a bear or it’s teeth without looking at a picture or 4. Nearly every realism artist will look at some reference to do the fantastic work they do.

This breaks my heart even though I haven’t been on Aywas in forever and had zero clue any of this was going on until drama started filling my feed.

Glad I left before shit really hit the fan. But good god, this is ridiculous for the reasons other people listed but also wtf with the completely arbitrary cooperation timeline???? Like what the fuck was that.

Any ways, Imo it’s due time for an emo rangers reunion. (All the more reason to angst in the aypocalypse or civil war or whatever it is this time.)

Like UK, I’ve made SO STINKING MUCH for aywas over SIX AND A HALF FUCKING YEARS that there’s no way I could accurately give every image and every user ID for every single thing I’ve made. Even with site access, I couldn’t do this. Bcus I have been on four different computers since aywas began. Two of which have ended up completely dead (and hence have been thrown out). I have, after a year or two, cleaned out my ancient photobucket account and so it’s not a viable record either. And I tend to be a packrat and keep most things for a long long time. I can’t even imagine how much worse it would be for someone who regularly clears out their files.

That is such an absolutely unacceptable demand to make of someone. Kind floored that staff somehow thought that was a reasonable course of action.

So, I guess here’s another reason for be to be afraid to do anything on aywas.

Honestly, #41 wouldn’t be banned right now if they had just went in it without the misplaced guilty attitude. All they had to say was you referenced things too exact and need to to make it more different, they could’ve kept it professional. Instead they insisted you needed to admit to being guilty to tracing (Which is a little silly since the problem was image A looks too much like image B, not HOW does image A look like B) & provide every image you’ve posted on Aywas over the past 5 years… I hate stupid drama like this so I’ve been avoiding it but I miss you too. <3

I’m sad because I really want to like and get back into Aywas. Since I graduated college this December I’ve been excited to work on bases again. It was hard enough trying to get into it while getting over losing everything I had worked for 5 years on due to a silly misunderstanding. Yet, it’s getting harder and harder still seeing the same stuff keep happening. I think most of the staff needs some brushing up with their people skills.

seriously no kidding, I have 0 problem redrawing anything that there is a problem with! I love drawing and I want my customers to be happy as well as the site, if they didn’t accuse with their first breath I would have been totally willing to redraw the bear as well as anything else they found problems with.

I love you Bee and I’m most thankful for having found you out of the mess that is aywas, you’re seriously the best friend I ever had!

No kidding! Especially with my computer having crashed and losing all of my files I didn’t have on tumblr or photobucket, I have no idea how they expected me to give them every single thing. And I also seriously doubt that they’d even take the time to check over each and every single thing vs every single image on the internet. I honestly considered that maybe they decided to just ban me because it would be too much work to cross reference. lol
