You rolled your eyes as Chris’s arms slid around your waist, pulling you back against his chest. His lips found the crook of your neck, placing a gentle kiss on your skin. Even after all of these years, his affection and love for you had never faltered. Every chance he got, his hands or lips were on you. Or his mouth was inches away from your ear, whispering his love for you and your family as if you could ever forget just what you meant to him. 

You stopped icing the cake on the counter, turning into his embrace and wrapping your arms around his neck. The same cologne he’d been wearing since your wedding night wafted through the air, making you smile. Sandalwood and citrus. Your favorite.  “Lo dici a tutte le tue mogli,” (You say that to all of your wives.)  You teased. 

“Ah, yes. But I mean it when I say it to you,” He winked, moving out of your grasp when you reached down to pinch his side.
