Face softening and his heart dropping down into the pit of his stomach, Mason felt he was losing another person he loved. Even if it wasn’t by death’s hand, he wasn’t sure if burying the younger male would hurt as bad at this. A sigh leaves his lips once the kiss is broken. One hand leaves the other’s hip to thread through dark locks. “Michonne and I have some bad blood between us..”

Tip of his tongue curled in front of an incisor, hues of green held a flicker of frustration and when he speaks, Mason tries to be sympathetic, and he is. Carl has his family, and the Hilltop leader has his people, even if his family was buried deep into the ground. “I know, Carl. Doesn’t mean I hav’ta like it.”
carl takes a step forward, gradually closing the distance between himself and the man he has come to know and love. ‘ mason… ’ his voice cracks, barely anything more than a whisper as he takes the man’s hands, looking up at him with a frown. ‘ if i could stay, i would. you know that… ’ carl understands. after losing everyone, fate has decided to put distance between them. so the younger boy closes it, guiding mason’s hands to his narrow hips and tilting his head up to press their lips together.
