i. there’s something sinister that lurks in the mystery of this place. familiar yet foreign blue flames, the people you never quite see or meet, the unsettling awareness of your soul laid bare with everyone else’s. the underworld is a place meant for the dead, but you and many others have visited that place while still breathing.

ii. do you think the gods listen to the prayers we say when we think they are not listening? do you think they choose who lives or dies based on their virtues or sins? if you think so, then you are a pathetic, naive and foolish mortal. you will never see the purest expression of grief with your own eyes, watch a soul leave the vessel it is so very attached to. you will never dedicate your life to putting it back, to deny the will of the underworld for just a little more time.

iii. we will never be gods.
