[THEORY] NCT U and the synchronization of dreams

This post is the final part of a trilogy. You can find the first part here and the second one here! :)

MV - The 7th Sense

Two months after the teasers, NCT U's first MV was released. As I said on my previous post, the MV is basically an updated version of Teaser #2's backstage happening on the main stage, except for the substitution of Hansol by Doyoung. We also see some marble walls and colorful lights.

The video starts with a scene of the five boys in what looks like a foyer. A forest adorns the corridor in front of them, taking us back to Ten's scenario and the dreams of living life into the wild. It's one of the only scenes where they appear together besides the choreography ones, which makes me think the video is not on a chronological order and that this is, instead, a scene from the ending, where they're already free from their boxes and reunited in a dream.

Part 2 - Messages from the unconscious

This post is the second part of a trilogy. You can find the first part here and the third part here! :)

Teaser #2. Synchronization of your Dreams

Continuing my analysis on NCT U’s debut, the second teaser shows us Taeyong waking up in the penumbra of his room, a light catching his attention from afar. He notices his bed is full of sand, and so are his hands. The boy in the first teaser opened his eyes older, but we’re still trapped inside a dream.

Getting out of bed, Taeyong follows a sand path, a trace from the past. But now there’s a red carpet below. We can see it’s an important path.

Taeyong enters the light at the end of the tunnel, and the scenario that follows is clearly a backstage, a limbo, with its improvised walls and debris that didn’t fit on the main stage. He puts on a leather jacket and ruffles his hair: he’s now entering the superstar persona, not only in the dream world, but also in the awake one.

Part 1—The Little Prince

This post is the first part of a trilogy. You can find the second part here and the third part here

With the debut of SM Entertainment’s new boy group NCT (or Neo Culture Technology), I decided to make an analysis about the concepts I observed on the released teasers and MVs.

This part of the trilogy will analyse the first teaser, named ‘The Origin’:

The hourglass with three bulbs indicates that this story doesn’t follow the time on Earth. A solitary boy appears in a desert, echoing “The Little Prince”, a book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
