So, question..

I hate asking this, let alone coming out of nowhere with this. But I just want to know, how do/did you all learn to draw bodies?

Now this may seem like a weird question to ask out of the blue, cause I'm sure it is. But please hear me out. I don't remember if I've mentioned this, but I have a huge fear problem, and it's been stopping me from being productive. It's one of the reasons I'm so slow (the other is I just can't focus and idk why lol).

Anyway, I wanted to ask this because I don't know how to draw bodies. I can't, for some reason, understand it. Don't get this the wrong way though. I'm not really asking to be taught. That's unreasonable for me to ask. I just want to know how others managed to figure it out, in the hopes of finding my way.

Sorry to bother you all with my problem, though. I don't like doing this. But I felt I had to do this to see even a slight hint of progress. I felt I couldn't just continue venting my frustrations on a blog nobody sees, and instead do something about it where someone would see, you know?

what do you mean murder and gore is unnecessary?

Well I mean, they were a band of hitmen. And they kill a lot because of it. Not only could I not really figure out how to make that "reasonable" story wise, but also murder and gore are things people usually don't like for obvious reasons lol. And to just have so much of it with little story significance just because it's their "job" feels kind of unreasonable (?)

Either way, I'd rather not upset people when it doesn't do anything for a greater story. You know?

you say your characters changes alot since they were first made. do you still work with their old character?

Oh yes, of course! Some of those old personalities became favorites with a couple people I talk to. (Mainly Mike's) But ultimately I like to imagine their old versions are living their own lives in their own "universe". You know?

And if I ever do drastically change a character I usually do the same thing, keeping note of their old version. Mainly because I feel it's a good idea to keep track of every idea I have. And, while I don't go out of my way for it, I would roleplay as those old versions in the past.

I have actually thought of revisiting the old story again... Only thing stopping me is how unnecessary murder and gore is. But I did like the idea of a bad guy adopting a child, ultimately reflecting on their ways for the sake of the innocent child they formed a bond with. Very wholesome :)

Dome of your alt Mew designs hint at something interesting...

Why does Mi-ra also have a more "demonic" form? I can kinda guess that Mer-anum's other form would be related to him mutating into a deoxys, but perhaps that's not right either...

Avatar

Ah yeah. It's mainly due to their anger. I guess I forgot to mention Mi-ra gets really angry lol. Due to the anger in their heart when facing obstacles that may even affect those they care about.

This "alternate" thing I've made for the Mews, is a creature I'm designing. Because the alternates are supposed to be original creatures to divert these characters away from Pokémon if needed. That being said, their forms change based of malice in their hearts, reflecting it. It isn't fully thought out yet though lol.

This one isn’t an edit, but on the topic of Alternates and their design, though I am straying away from Pokémon with them, they do still show inspiration from their Pokémon designs (except Mike lol). I’m trying to make more original creatures so that I can fill a world with them.

With those Mew Alternates. (Still have yet to come up with creature names :/ ) I wanted to keep them simple like Mews, but still provide something different. I also wanted to make them cute and soft-looking, making them feel very innocent. Then give them a form that turns that simple, cute creature into something more evil and unnerving as seen by Mer-Anum. I also wanted to keep them simple because, as it stands, they’d also be a sort of “origin creature”, in the new story’s world. Moo did an excellent job with what I had in mind!

As my goal stands, my new story’s world would probably focus around these Alternates. And would probably be close to the story I had in mind here, though many aspects are subject to change, which is why I’m so comfortably being open. However, it’s focus will be different. It’ll start off way differently.

you mentioned you have multiple designs for your characters. can we see them?

Absolutely! Though, I have characters in the process of getting refs made. In the meantime I'll show you what I have!

For example, Mayu (who I'd say has the most at the moment) has a human design (drawn by me :) ) and what I call an "alternate" design (drawn by Moo, of course):

Mike has a human design and an "alternate" concept:

And here are alternates for King, Patches, and Zipper:

What kind of accessories are Buttons' favorite? Like bows? Or rings?

Avatar

She really loves Bows, bracelets, cute hairpins. Those could be considered her favorites.

But she loves everything else as well lol

Avatar

Tell me everything about Buttons. Love her so much

Avatar

I'm glad to hear you enjoy her. In all honestly I love her a lot too. She's one of those characters I "obsess" over. Probably the one I do the most lol.

Everything? Well I guess I could do that lol. I do take the word "everything" very literally though lol. There will be somethings I may leave out in the sake of future projects, but I'm sure you already knew that lol.

To get into "everything", I'll start with her creation, and we'll work our way from there. She was created back around 2016, and was definitely not like the way she is today at all lol. She wasn't a scientist, she was quite a bit shorter, had a yellow hood, and a huge scythe. Image example:

She was just someone who would kill because she was ordered to. As I've explained before the story of some of these characters back then was very "bad" lol. She then began to change and develop in small ways. Her hood became blue, her personality became more stoic and closed off, and the beginning of the idea of her being a scientist began to develop.

For the sake of the length of this post, everything else will be under a "read more"

you seem to have a lot of passion put into your characters! they havent had their story and you still put so much detail into them.

Well thank you! I try my best to make my characters feel like real people, because it really gets the reader invested if they can relate/empathize with them. So, I usually think about every single little detail I can and even run them in scenarios in my head to fully get an understanding of them. Heck, I'd even roleplay with them to develop them.

I do this because, to be honest, I really love my characters. (Some more than others lol.) I'm not sure if others feel the same way, but I just have some OC's that I have a huge obsession with. I'm not sure if it's unhealthy though lol. I really see them as "real" in a sense, so I try to do my best to give them the development they deserve. And soon, with a story, a world I feel they deserve.

I might be weird for it, but they mean a lot to me. Maybe it's why I have so few. Have you seen my Toyhouse? The character selection is small compared to others I've seen lol.

World level disaster? what do you mean? 0_0

:)

Let's just say something really bad lol. I might use the idea I had for it, so I won't go too deep into detail. But it was really bad, and barely solved. Had the potential to threaten more than just the world.

being that Mike clearly shows an interest in archeology and history what does Buttons and Mayu do?

Buttons is a scientist. She mainly studies chemistry and biology. She does sciencey things lol, I'm not a scientist so I don't understand any of it.

Mayu, on the other hand, helps Mike with his passion. You can see her as jr. historian/archeologist lol. But on her own she loves to battle.

Anonymous asked:

mike dropped out of college? why?

Good question. In his time, the world is going through another "history reset" where history is forcefully repressed and "erased" to ensure a world level disaster doesn't happen again. Being that he went to college to learn history and archeology in this kind of world... he found out he ain't learning much lol. To be honest, I wanted to do that, not only to show off the state of the world in that sense, but also as a joke. It's funny to think of him as an excited school boy only to leave the first day disappointed lol. Imagining the look on his face is priceless.

Avatar

Was I supposed to be answering these in character? oops lol

Avatar

How did Mike get that scar across his face? It’s been there since he was a riolu, so does that mean he got it when he was a kid?

Avatar

Well that's a good question. Mayu caused it. Dropping out of college, Mike stumbled across an abandoned Mayu. While attempting to help her out, her fear and instincts kicked in, slashing him across the face.

Mike, not bothered by it at all, decided to still attempt to help her (after giving his wound attention, of course). And after that a bond was formed between them. Especially since he, pretty much, adopted her lol.

I'm fine sharing this. Because, while it will probably happen in the future, it won't be that hard to figure out when it'll be laid out anyway lol.

Avatar

Ah forget the previous question!! I missed a post!

So would every Mew we've met have mutated at some point? I'm very intrigued by that idea!!!

Avatar

Indeed. At the start, the mutation would only be slight, evolving and mutating more as its passed down to their offspring, and their offspring's offspring, and so on. I thought it was a neat idea when I first started thinking about this story. I mean, as a Pokémon fan, it was never really explained (to my knowledge) how Pokémon came to be what they are other than they "originated from mew as a common ancestor". So I'd thought I'd take my own crack at answering it in my own way lol.

Which, by the way, since this story ain't goin nowhere, if anyone wants to "borrow ;)" these ideas for yourselves, feel free.
