It’s Mother’s Day coming up, so I’m thinking of all the women in my life and all the awesome roles they play (mothers, non-mothers, and never-mothers alike).

Day 3 of dog and he is snoring on the couch next to me. He's such a good boy already.
Viggo Mortenson does not get enough credit for delivering lines like "not idly do the leaves of Lorien fall" with a complete sincerity and gravitas
The whole lotr trilogy works because every single person on set and behind the scenes treated it seriously and with gravitas. It was completely earnest and I don't know if anyone making movies today has that in them anymore.
one of my favorite parts of the director's commentary is Jackson talking about Sam's "that there is some good in this world" speech. he talks about how when they were writing it, it was like "is this too much? is this too sentimental? are people going to be cringing in the theater?" but at the same time, it was necessary to keep the audience emotionally invested bc TTT was ending on such a dark note. and he knew, KNEW, it was all going to come down to Sean Astin's delivery; there was no wiggle room, he had to nail it. and then, of course, he did.

It *is* genuinely great! So this is from October of '23! As of my reading this, it's now January 11 of '24. I think I'm around the 1,000th note on it though, which is and is not startling.
Were this a "golf courses have killed ______ species" or a "you're going to die 10 years sooner because of golf courses" piece, getting 1,000 notes would be a two-day affair.
I genuinely believe that at this time in our existence there is a moral obligation to share news about positive actions, and all the things people are doing to combat extinction at every level. There are so many things. Despair breeds inaction, and that's simply not an option.
Rewilding is *amazing* and very much an option for lots of areas. And YES it's happening.
Those videos that are like “sorry millennials but gen alpha thinks side parts/skinny jeans/high ponytails/whatever are cringey” are so painfully embarrassing can you IMAGINE being in your ENTIRE THIRTIES and caring what a twelve year old thinks about you??
There are people in the notes who think my beef is with the twelve year old and I want to assure you it is not: twelve year olds thinking their parents are cringe is a sacred rite of passage. Being a grown ass adult and letting the opinions of children affect you however is optional.
