Mer-maiding with bestie @nocturnevulgaire early this summer.
A new one for my MerMay collection! This time it’s Mer-Aizawa from BNHA. Eye color, teeth, and background were done in GIMP. The rest is practical makeup with Mehron Paradise paint and latex.
2020 Makeup Review - Which ones do you like best?
It’s been a hell of a year for everyone. However, developing my skills as a MUA and creating all these new characters has been a highlight, and I’m so glad for all the prompts from my friends and Mckenzie’s Makeup Challenge. I’ve added 3D gel to my tool kit and did a lot more with water based paint for more vibrant, colorful makeups and drastic transformations. My goal for 2021 is to try more illusion makeups that involve changing the shape of a face and to make more of my own prosthetics.

My interpretation of Tokoyami and Dark Shadow from My Hero Academia. Tokoyami is one of my favorite characters and I love how this turned out. The makeup process was a lot of trial and error but the end result is exactly what I wanted. I also learned some new things in GIMP to get this final product. I’ll post some of just the makeup later!
Happy Halloween!! (Several months too late for Tumblr haha.) I tried something new this year by using #mehronmakeup 3d gel instead of the latex or scar wax I’d usually use. It made great scars for my Frankenstein-inspired character. Alas, my painting of different skin tones was too subtle for my camera to pick up. Guess I need to practice some photo editing next!
My ghost for #mckenziesmakeupchallenge ! I love the design of the ghosts in Crimson Peak, so this is my version of one of the earlier Mrs. Thomas Sharps. She was ‘fell’ (was pushed) into a failed mine shaft one winter and was buried under the snow, so she doesn’t have the bright colors of the ones buried in the clay. She looks more like - well, spoilers.
I couldn’t get the pictures to upload to tumblr correctly, so see more on Instagram!
The blind witch gained foresight for a price. For @mckenziesmakeupchallenge
Mantis Shrimp hybrid for @mckenziesmakeupchallenge ! Mantis shrimp are some of my favorite sea critters because they’re beautiful, really damn weird, and can punch through glass.
I got an honorable mention from Doug Jones for this one! Still not over it 🤩
Cherry blossom dryad for @mckenziesmakeupchallenge on Instagram.
Oof I am waaay behind on updating Tumblr! Get ready for a whole lot of makeups so I can link them in my final 2020 review!
Get you an MUA who can do both.
It’s been a while since I did a regular gender swap or beauty makeup! Glad for the inspiration from @mckenziesmakeupchallenge on Instagram!
Missing finger - gotta watch out for those fireworks!
First set without blood, second set with blood since I couldn’t decide which I liked best.
The First Orc
Yet this is held true by the wise of Eressëa, that all those of the Quendi who came into the hands of Melkor, ere Utumno was broken, were put there in prison, and by slow arts of cruelty were corrupted and enslaved; and thus did Melkor breed the hideous race of the Orcs in envy and mockery of the Elves...
- The Silmarillion, J.R.R. Tolkien
A few of my old posts have apparently been eaten by tumblr, sooo here they are again! This was for the Silmarillion Read-Along in 2014. I should try this again with what I’ve learned over the years!

Everyone liked my virtual Zoom background, so I decided to blend in a little more with my colleagues.
First photo edited for color/contrast and background, but otherwise it's all makeup. I got a little more creative with the editing in the others, obviously haha.
