I really love still receiving messages like this all these years later. It not only shocks me that anyone would still read Matched (when I go back and look at parts, I often cringe or think of all the things I’d fix now!) but it also reminds me of the summer that I wrote it --2015, I think?-- and what a nice summer that was and rewarding and all that. :P I’d love to be able to return to writing like I did back then, just for fun.

I wish this was a film! I need to know more! Where are they? Does he become a literacy hero? Did she get her dream job? Do they travel to all the places she imagined? Do they spend weeks just wrapped up in each other? I haven’t stopped wondering about them all day. This story is going to stick with me. You’re writing is amazing, thank you for sharing!! (2)

One more thing lol. I loved how yes it was enemies to lovers but he was always respectful to her. Rude sure but so was she. There’s so many fics where I’m like eww he’s genuinely not a nice person and it’s just so unhealthy. I never stopped rooting for them as characters and to be a couple Lol. Ok here’s the answers to some of your questions (the one’s I’ve considered before,  at least). I’ve answered other questions like this in the past, too.... Harry does decline his “wallstreet” job for the literacy internship. He has success with that but what he really wants to do is break into the music industry; he has lots of little music gigs lined up at bars, thanks to his Shoots manager’s connections! Kenzie, meanwhile, isn’t able to find a job in set design post graduation, so she works as a waitress (much to her mother’s dismay!) at one of those themed diners that makes you wear rollerskates. In her freetime she volunteers at a local community theater hoping to get her foot in the door, but it’s difficult. Kenzie struggles with how easy success comes to Harry (his wild popularity has always been infuriating to her!), especially since everything seems difficult to her. She really internalizes this idea that she’s a failure and it def is one of the first real challenges that their relationship faces! Lastly, since its been asked before... Kenzie moves in with Louis after graduation, and Harry still lives with Liam. But what with how much time each respective couple spends with each other, you’d hardly know :P

And finally, I’m glad you thought there was a certain amount of tension but that, at the end of the day, the characters were still redeemable and their connection made sense. That means a lot! <3

18 - What is a line/scene you’re really proud of? Give us the DVD commentary for that scene. Matched: I’d say my favorite scene is the scene with Harry and Kenz in the staff bathroom at Grace’s birthday party, after Tia punched Kenz (ch 17?). I really love that scene; it’s one of the first one’s I think of when I think of the story. Especially the image of Harry nervously loosening his necktie, that has stuck with me. It’s such a rom com cliche --with Harry helping clean up Kenzie and her bloody nose -- but it’s so soft and cute. It’s important for Harry as he pieces together his Match’s true identity, and also he is more vulnerable in this scene then he is arguably anywhere else in the whole fic (he gives Kenzie a gift that is actually insight into himself, plus he agrees to the open mic night and asks her to be there), and we get to see Kenz imagine kissing Harry ... then promptly denying it. lol. Odds On: well there’s still quite a bit of fic to happen, isn’t there... I quite like this line from chapter 5 : “Despite years in the band and countless interviews, red carpets, and a goddamn concert film, having cameras shoved in my face was never something I could get used to. The constant feeling of being watched made me feel like I always had to be ready to put on a show. But as we walked inside and I noticed how less rigid Nina became around the cameras, I wondered if that was exactly what she liked about them. Maybe the knowledge that no moment was private made every moment less lonely.” 

20 - What’s your favorite minor character you’ve written? Matched: omg this is such a good question lol. Is Louis a minor character? He’s so funny. Otherwise maybe Niall, I liked that he was always encouraging Kenz’s horoscope obsession.  Odds On: I mean, Einstein obvs.

25 - Which idea came to you first in [x fic]? Matched: I think I’ve answered this before. One of the first scenes/lines I wrote was the two of them in the art building, aka their first kiss. I thought that this would also be the time we (and Kenz) see Harry sing My Funny Valentine, but that ended up happening later in the fic.  Odds On: Actually, one of the first ideas I had for the fic was the scene in ch 6 when Harry and Tully make the blanket fort in her apartment and then are chased out by Ms Weber. It was based off a story that my grandfather told me about the time my grandmother (his then girlfriend) got kicked out of her apartment. My grandparents hated the landlord so much, they grabbed all the cheese from the fridge and stuffed it in a broken banister on the stairwell, then put the top of the banister back on so it looked normal. He imagines the landlord wondered for quite some time where the smell was coming from before she thought to look in the stairwell banister. :P
