in canada, mass graves of hundreds of children who were murdered at residential schools keep being uncovered. the latest a mass unmarked grave site of 751 children in saskatchewan. this country keeps sweeping this under the rug with empty promises and apologies. you can donate to the indian residential school survivors society. if you are indigenous or know any other places to donate, please add on to this post.

you can educate yourself on landback.org where you can also donate. you can also read about landback on the david suzuki foundation website here  and here. you can donate to the david suzuki foundation as well.  if you are canadian, you can send an automated letter to trudeau, urging the canadian government to implement systems of land governance that respect indigenous rights.

you can also donate to the Tḱemlúps te Secwepemc nation on whose territory the remains of 215 Indigenous children were found.  Donations can be made at donations@kib.ca. Cheques can be made out to Tḱemlúps te Secwepemc and mailed to 200-330 Chief Alex Thomas Way, Kamloops, BC V2H 1H1. Here’s the full statement on what you can do to support the Tḱemlúps te Secwepemc.

here is a hotline for survivors, family, and those affected by the recent announcements. It is available 24 hours a day, and hosted by the irsss 1-866-925-4419

here’s a link to book recs abt residential schools (<— the person who made this post is indigenous and you can support their beadwork business here)

the Save the Evidence campaign at the Woodlands Cultural Centre. (IRSSS is, unfortunately, not national.)

and to prevent people from nitpicking - no, we don’t know (nor do I believe knowledgeable people believe) that all those bodies are children. but enough of them are.

ive also been informed that it’s not a mass grave, just individual unmarked graves.

There's so much going on in the world right now, and I know it's really hard & draining to find the time to keep yourself informed about everything, so I'm going to apologize for flooding the dashes of all of my followers with more despair. But I thought maybe a personal post might help spread the word even faster.

I'm not sure how many people are aware, but the COVID-19 situation in India is apocalyptic, and it's getting worse by the day. As an Indian-American, this has been personal for me for a while, but it got incredibly personal today. I still have a lot of family and friends in India, and this evening, I received word that one of my aunts died of COVID. She passed away in her home in Chennai, and because the hospitals were full, she could not receive the care she needed. And even if she, by some miracle, was admitted to a hospital, the lack of oxygen would have likely led the same outcome. I am slightly comforted by the fact that she had her husband and my cousins were there with her, but she likely suffered greatly.

India is seeing a COVID case rise of 300,000+ per day, and there are thousands more that are likely going unreported. The country needs help, and so I'm asking everyone who sees this, personally, to please consider donating to international relief funds.

Here is a link to a post that has been circulating around Tumblr with links to resources and donation centers.

Here's a google doc that's constantly being updated with places that you can donate.

If you live in the U.S. & in the Chicago Area, the Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago is soliciting donations for COVID-19 relief in India, and you can donate to their relief fund here.

Times are hard, and if you can't give, I ask you to please reblog this post, or other posts that give links to relief funds so that other people can learn more about what's going on in India.
