Today was another ruzzian missile attack on Kyiv. I was sitting in the shelter and suddenly realised I'm afraid - not of dying, but of being completely forgotten.

If next time I'll die, would anyone here remember me? Or at least say something like "Oh, I knew that one guy on tumblr from Ukraine, he had interesting takes on Rusty Lake and made nice art"? I just wanna someone knew I was real. That this war is real.

I don't want to be forgotten

It's been so long since I have posted anything here, so sorry for that 😅 It's getting hard to focus on several social medias lately, but I'll do my best. For now, here is a new character I have been working on recent days^^

He is Ranchi. He is a food deliverer to different deities, supernatural creatures and even mortals too. And of course he is an oni XD

The Oni of the Mountain

Hello everyone! It has been quite a while I didn't post any writing or story of mine! I have been taking a long break because of my irl life but I'm back with a fresh new new story and here is the chapter 1.

I hope you will love it as I enjoyed writing it!

------

In a small village far away from every trouble of this world, two curious kids were listening to the same story from their grandfather; the legend of the Oni of the Mountain.

The kids knew Onis were real. After all, the Onis had their own dedicated region and kingdom in this world. What was strange though was that Onis never left their region. It was heavily defended and Onis tended to be reclusive. They only lived among themselves.

So, a living real Oni as close as their village was unexpected. All the villagers were afraid of the Oni. It was forbidden to go too deep in the forest and climb the mountain to meet her.

However, the grandfather kept telling all of these years that the Oni saved his life when he was a kid and lost in the forest. He repeated the same tale; the Oni saved his life when he was drowning in the river, healed his injuries and brought him back to the village.

Despite his claims, no one believed him.

He never had the courage to go back to her to give the Oni his thanks. His family also prevented him from doing so. And, as he grew up, he had new responsibilities for the village and his family.

Now, the only people that wanted to hear all about his misadventure was his grandson and granddaughter. Both of them were twins and were probably the most troublemakers of the village; always running around and making all kinds of mess whenever they could.

As they were listening to their grandfather, they were interrupted by the grandfather’s wife and the mother of the twins.

  • It’s late. It’s time to let your grandpa sleep and the same goes to you both, Jaden and Kiara.

They stood up a bit disappointed as they wanted to spend more time with their grandfather. They both gave him a hug before going to their home. Their mom put them in bed and switched off the lights.

But the twins were too excited to go to sleep right away.

  • Jaden, do you sleep?
  • No. And you?
  • Not yet. I have an idea. Tomorrow, we have no obligation. We are going to climb the mountain and find the Oni.
  • I like it. I’m with you.
  • Then, let’s get some sleep, we are going to need some strength.

They fell asleep quickly with their minds filled with a sense of adventure and excitement.

In the early morning, they wore the necessary clothes for climbing the mountain as well as box filled with fruits and ham as a gift for the Oni.

Determined and full of energy, they began to follow the main path leading to the forest. Once they were deep in the forest, they remembered the story of their grandfather for the rest of the directions.

First, they found the supposed river where their grandfather almost drowned. From there, they climbed north for at least one hour until the grass started to be replaced by snow. And finally, they followed the rocky path for one more hour.

They were getting tired but when they were about to give up, there was hut against a wall of the mountain. They could tell someone lived there and they could see some recent activities around it.

  • We found it!
  • Let’s say knock on the door!

They approached the hut carefully. Smoke could be seen from the chimney. They were close to the door and they were about to knock when they heard some roar behind them.

The twins turned around and noticed a big white wolf angry at them. The wolf was growling as the kids were frozen in place. What could they do?

The wolf was coming closer and kept growling. Kiara held the hand of her brother as Jaden put himself between her and the wolf. He was ready to protect her sister until…

  • Vega. Sit.

A deep female voice made the wolf sit and a tall, pale, muscular individual with horns and scars appeared from the corner of a big tree just a few meters away from the hut and the kids.

The twins were not moving as the Oni approached them.

The Oni caressed the wolf and studied the kids.

  • Good girl. What are you two doing here?
  • We wanted to meet the Oni of the mountain.
  • So, you two are from the village. It’s not safe out here. Haven’t your parents warned you about the mountain or me?

The twins looked at each other, unsure of what to do next.

  • Our grandfather kept talking about you and how you saved him.
  • That kid still lives? Well, he was lucky that day.
  • I told you, Jaden. Grandfather said the truth!
  • I know right? But… wait! Why do you look so young? What’s your age?
  • Strange things to ask, brats. I’m eighty years old.

The two kids were at awe and looked really surprised.

  • But you don’t look old like our grandfather or grandmother!

Surprisingly, the Oni had a small smile and the tension of the atmosphere decreased a bit.

  • My people tend to live way more than yours. We can live for thousands of years if we are careful. Now, enough questions. You two should go home, I don’t have time to deal with you two.

The Oni pushed them away albeit softly so she could open the door. The wolf passed next to them and entered the hut followed by the Oni.

  • Goodbye.
  • Wait! We…
  • We have a gift a for you!

As she was about to close the door on them, she stopped and raised an eyebrow. Jaden showed up the box filled with fruits and ham.

There was a silence before the Oni sighed and opened the door again.

  • Fine. I can’t say no to food. Get inside. At this altitude, it’s probably cold for you.

With stars in their eyes, they joined the Oni inside. She took the box and cut some ham for her and the Wolf. Vega was laying down not far from the fire.

Once the Oni put the box and the food away, she brought two drinks for the kids.

  • Drink it. It’s a relaxing hot beverage. There is no alcohol. It will relax your muscles from all the climbing you two did.
  • Thank you, miss…
  • Kurai. Kurai Taka.
  • Thank you, miss Taka.

As the twins enjoyed their drinks, Kurai looked at them in silence.

  • Once you two are done, I’ll escort you to the closest I can be from your village. Then you two are on your own. Then, you never come back.

The two kids were puzzled. The Oni was actually serious about what she said but the twins were determined.

  • But what if we do come back? I mean you can’t stop us!
  • Yes! What will you do? Kill us and feed us to your wolf? Or eat us yourself?

That took the Oni by surprise. She didn’t expect such bold words, especially from kids. It reminded her of the kid she saved so many decades ago. They really were his offsprings.

  • Fine. I’m not sociable. I prefer to live alone… or with Vega. You can visit one time per week and you two bring food each time. Alright?
  • That’s awesome! This is very exciting!
  • One last condition. I know you are kids but you don’t tell anyone of our deal. Including your grandfather. If you break the deal at any time, it’s over.
  • You can count on us.

While the twins were more excited and happier than ever, Kurai on the other hand sighed deeply. She was not expecting that turn of events.

After some time, they finished their drinks and prepared themselves to leave. They left the hut alongside the Oni and her big wolf.

  • I have an idea for your way back.

Without hesitation, she grabbed both kids and put them on top of the wolf. The twins were amazed and giggled at the situation.

  • Vega can be a sweetheart if she trusts you and I can say she does. Otherwise, she would have been more aggressive towards you two earlier. Come on now, let’s go.

The group climbed down the mountain and came across the river. The Oni has a small pause before walking again towards the direction of the village.

Once she was two kilometres away from the village, she dropped the kids on the floor and told them to go.

  • We will see you soon! I promise!
  • Yes! And Vega is too pretty!

Kurai had a smile while also facepalming. What did she get herself into?

When they returned home, the twins didn’t say a word about their adventure but still winked at their grandfather.

The twins respected their deal and visited the Oni one time per week. It was always the same day and the same period of that day for the three months.

They never really talked much. The twins had tried to discover more about her but she was always quiet or secretive regarding her background. But at least they started to play with Vega for the pleasure of the wolf and the kids too.

However, one day, at the beginning of the fourth month, the kids didn’t show up. Usually, they would not worry the Oni much. Though, the twins were always punctual and they tended to tell her if the next time they could possibly be late or not regarding their own weekly schedule.

Then, she heard footsteps and turned around to notice the kids. Both of them were hurt slightly and were exhausted from running all the way to her home.

She knew right away something was wrong.

  • Bandits! The village is being attacked and raided by bandits!
  • Please, we need your help!

She wanted to go back how things were some months ago, she missed her lonely time. Nevertheless, she had to act quickly. She bandaged properly the twins as fast she could.

She put like usual the kids on Vega, her wolf.

  • Vega. Follow me. And kids, hold on tight because we are going to be fast this time.

Please share !!

Dear followers and mutuals,

I need your help ! ⚠️⚠️⚠️

(sorry for the long post)

The same Astarion artwork continues to be stolen time and time again by unscrupulous shops (I've filed over 20 complaints, just on Etsy alone). One particular shop refuses to remove the items using my artwork, ignores my messages, and deletes all my comments warning potential buyers.

Here's the specific artwork, my original fanart, and the low-quality and insolent modification to turn it into a shoddy sweatshirt and t-shirt design.

This has to stop.

Sharing your work on the internet, or even just sharing your passion, has become a nightmare for artists and creators. We already have enough to deal with in the face of AI threats and platforms like Aliexpress; now we have to manage a surge in theft as well.

This shop is also appropriating other artworks from the BG3 fandom.

Here are the screenshots :
