Idk man it’s so easy to get bogged down in all the bullshit online but when my then-6 year old cousin found out I was trans he said “ok” then corrected my grandma when she misgendered me. I was once the third between a gay man and a lesbian. Two lesbians once invited me back to their place when I presented as a man. I met an AMAB nb butch who looked strikingly to outsiders like a cis man and it was one of the more sapphic experiences I’ve had. I nervously wore a boydyke shirt to pride and got 3 different cis-looking femme folks tell me they loved my shirt. I once told a trans group at a protest that any pronouns were fine for me and one person said “wow, I’m impressed and intimidated by people like that. I don’t know that I could be that chill with pronouns.” I once told a GNC friend I wished I could wear a type of “opposite” gender clothing after I had already transitioned and so it would be associated with my AGAB and he said “You could just do it.” I’ve had cishet men fight cops for me before. The first time I had a doctor ask me if my name was different than what was on my forms I had to try not to cry. Last week, a phone call with a doctor’s office where I am generally cis passing asked unprompted if my name listed is what I want to be called. It touched me then too. I told a lesbian friend once I felt like my attraction to men AND women both felt gay. She said “makes sense.” And we moved on. I go by different pronouns in different circles. I’ve had gay women love my facial hair. I’ve had gay men like my tits. It’s all out there, I promise. It can be hard to find it but I promise there is community like you and community who likes you. And it’s more messy and beautiful than tumblr discourse makes it out to be.

My girlfriend just read this and called it pretty. Like how you can say something is beutiful. Its pretty. I've never heard that before but I loved it. Just thought I'd share. As a gender chill person (i dont really care what pronouns you call me) myself this really spoke to me.

If it helps, as a writer with artist friends often feels like being a chemist surrounded by bakers. I'll spend ages coming up with a hypothesis and then lock myself away for weeks or months only to emerge with a small vial of glowing liquid. Yes it took a lot of work, and yes I'm proud that I've created it, but it pales when I look across at the bakers. In the same time, they've made so many delicious things that make living a delight. Chances are they've fed me and kept me from despair while I was locked in my lab. And I envy their wonderful craft.

People working in immigration will remember that public outcry grew silent about an issue that didn’t disappear once Biden got sworn in. Environmentalists and activists fighting desperately against climate change will not forget that Biden fast-tracked the pipeline about to kill their home. Students activists swimming in student debt haven’t forgotten that Biden is why you can’t file for bankruptcy over federal loans. i’m going to push back on this because it’s not true. there is a tremendous difference between someone who has gone through years of training on recognizing and mitigating biases and Just Some Guy with a large tiktok following and no accountability.

historians can absolutely be biased and even wrong, but they have to show their sources. there are a lot of problems with academia, but “systemically incentivized to Lie And Mislead The Populace based on the wishes of the donors” is not actually at the top of the list.

RE: talking to conservative parents, I’ve found a good method to de-worming their brains is to not get riled up, just act a little bored and remind them “the news cycle only shows salacious stuff. They want you to be mad and scared because it makes you easier to control. Think about it for a second. Do you REALLY believe everything they have to say?” Or “you can’t believe everything you read or see on the internet. Remember, they earn money every time you click on their video.”

So what this paint company does is take iron pollution from abandoned mines that are polluting soils and rivers and makes iron based red pigment paints out of it.

Basically they realized hey no one's cleaning this shit up, it's polluting the streams, killing all the fish, making the water undrinkable and there's a huge market for it so why not make money by cleaning it the fuck up?

They remove this stuff by the industrial bucket load from the rivers. The idea is if it's in a painting, if it's in your home, it's not poisoning wildlife.
