Hi! I need a list of realistic sounding powers that could be explained by the cast contracting a virus that changed the way their bodies worked, do you have any suggestions?

We are going to need you to expand on the question.

Do you have details on the virus?

What do you mean by “realistic?”

I think that meant “logical/semi-logical extensions of existing bodily functions”, so here are some suggestions: -generating fire due to an increased body temperature (if you want to keep it realistic, this fire would be uncontrollable, so perhaps require friction/a highly flammable material nearby/additional heat/something like that to activate it) coupled with extremely heat-resistant skin. -you could also have a flammable gas emitted from certain parts of the body, and it would require a spark to ignite–this version’s a bit more of a stretch, though. -you could accomplish a similar thing with electricity, if the virus allowed neural electrical impulses to be conducted to somewhere FAR AWAY from the brain (the hands?), amplified and then released…you’d still need extra-thick skin. -sped-up healing! If this is caused by a foreign bacteria, perhaps they can pass it on by touch (healing a wound by placing their hand on it) but it still requires something in the original person’s body to survive long-term. -super speed, strength, brain functions or senses are a no-brainer. -being able to gain sustenance from normally inedible things (poison immunity is something certain animals have to varying degrees already, but you could extend it to eating rocks or wood if you really felt like it). -blood has antibodies–maybe the person’s power makes them especially dangerous or even corrosive to other organisms (they’d have to open a cut, then get the blood on someone else) -…or just straight-up venom, possibly in the saliva (you could also have it in their sweat…or even tears, if you’re feeling dramatic). Again, animals have it, so if we’re going for “natural” or “realistic” powers, venom is your man. -on the other end of the spectrum, nectar! (likely secreted through the skin like sweat as well, but the same general options apply) I think this would be a pretty useless power, but here it is. -photosynthesis? Perhaps the virus fosters a photosynthetic bacteria that then passes nutrients on to the person with the power…watch out for green skin, though. -underwater breathing (via gills, or just the lungs being able to move and derive oxygen from water) is another classic “animal power”. If you need more, you can also contact me!

You should definitely apply if you have the time. These are fabulous suggestions, and I hope it helps.

Hi, I am thinking about applying and I went to check out the forms to see what was needed and I wanted to ask what does the question "what is your discord tag?" mean? What's a discord tag? Sorry to bother

[Discord name] & #tag so that, if you are chosen, you can join the discord we will communicate over.

In a world where most of the population has super powers, how could a character without powers fake them?

it depends on the power!

i would research magicians & masters of illusion. slight of hand tricks, cleverness, smoke & mirrors!

consider technological help like lasers and holograms.

or perhaps they fake their powers with a few well designed urban legends and rumors.

Uhm,, I am agender, and mentally ill– I have anxiety, OCD, BPD, and MDD which makes posting hard; I also just got out of an abusive relationship… So, there is that.

I am also autistic, and my dream job is to work at DC Comics, and start my own comic company focused on powers and a special type of multi-verse theory.

… I’m trying to find the spoons to make a mod application because I am trying to settle the relationship aftermath.

I don’t know, really.

In my book, a bunch of people(like literally dozens of them) have powers centered around certain aspects. What kinds of powers would be linked to the seven deadly sins?

Avatar

i’m going need a few specifications.

all seven sins?

and when they are centered around the powers do you mean specifically, as in an avatar and representation of the sin, or do you mean following the general theme?

Do you have tips on how to make shapeshifting not OP?

oo, okay, so i’m in a good mental mood (my girlfriend might be coming up for spring break!!) and i just saw this.

alright, so excuse my lack of capitalization, but i’m just giving you a quick run down of things to consider and i’m excited.

1. mass; like, matter can’t be created or destroyed, so unless there is some magical work around then, ideally, there shouldn’t be much difference in size between the shapeshifter & the thing they are! any size difference would most likely be because their insides got all cramped, or stretched out, and… that would not be fun. otherwise, they would need to absorb matter, or discard it to change form. (see 3)

2. energy; i’m assuming reconstructing your body into another thing is tiring because your entire genetic make-up and biological structure is shifting. you know growing pains? imagine that to an extreme. the body actually has to shift into another form.

3. process; so, i’m reading this amazing book called mistborn, and (spoiler) in it there are two types of creatures. 1, a mistwraith which consumes dead bodies and absorbs the skeleton and forms it into any type of skeleton they want, excreting any bones they don’t want. 2, kandra, which are a cousin to the mistwraith and also consume dead bodies but to a smaller, and more focused extent. they can take on the form of a dog (which takes hours because they consciously have to reconstruct the fur and parts) to a human! however, they can’t just, point blank, shape shift into something they don’t have a skeleton / biological print for, and they can’t ‘store’ forms in their biological memory.

so, make your own process.

4. limits beyond that; how many forms can they store, what type of forms (only animals, only plants (you do you, author friend,) only humans, etc; how do they shape-shift. is it a glamor, or full out shape shifting. is it only on the surface, or deep to their insides. how conscious is it, and how much time does it take.
